Author Topic: [NEWS] Kim Jong-un vows nuclear restraint; seeks normalization with USA, China  (Read 101870 times)

You can't trust neutrals.

With enemies you know where they stand.

So apperently his father "suddenly" died?
Aka he got poisoned.
I loving SWEAR TO GOD MAN HOLY forget

at the generational party congress today, kim announced that north korea seeks to normalize relations with states it is currently hostile to or subject to hostility of. to this end, he has vowed to exercise nuclear restraint and begun a five year plan to stabilize his country's economy in face of the UN sanctions some months ago
Check that stuff out. We just pressured an oppressive regime to improve itself without killing even a single person. The UN kicks ass.

a five year plan to stabilize his country's economy
oh no

It's great when everyone actually sticks to their word.
And even better when big guys like China and Russia cooperate with others.

I doubt its actually going to solve stuff dude. It's all about doing nasty stuff in the background. The UN is still a load of ass for everything else it does. They can say "yeah we'll improve" but that doesn't mean we should all rush to sucking off the UN.

UN has been and always will be a failure because the bigger powers (Particularly the US) use it to their own narrow interests.

Why would Kim Jong-Un continue to fight the sanctions when he's already promised to relax his nuclear testing? If he goes back on his word, the sanctions go back on and he's wasted his own time. Why do you think he's lying?

It's all about doing nasty stuff in the background.
The UN isn't some kind of shadowy organization that meets in underground tunnels. It's a hugely public organization that holds tons of public debate among SC member states before these kinds of sanctions go into effect. The UN also publishes documents online. For instance, here is the resolution that set new sanctions on North Korea in March.

The UN is still a load of ass for everything else it does.
For example?

They can say "yeah we'll improve" but that doesn't mean we should all rush to sucking off the UN.
Who is 'they'? Are you talking about the UN or North Korea?

UN has been and always will be a failure because the bigger powers (Particularly the US) use it to their own narrow interests.
Did you miss the part where China, North Korea's strongest ally, decided to support those sanctions as well? China has veto power in the Security Council too, so they could have shut it down if they felt that the UNSC was only catering to US interests.

to be fair NK having nukes is a pretty fair national security threat to china too so i'm not surprised they supported the sanctions

it makes sense. NK isn't going to undergo another famine that they don't need to. it's all in the line of keeping the current administration in power. the path they were going down would have resulted in a war or a coup d'etat, so they took the only way out to keep themselves alive.

Talking about background stuff is in reference to NK, not the UN i should have been more specific. I don't think the UN is some shadowy secret organization. North Korea isn't saying these things because they actually want to "improve", they just want to let the situation cool down so they can go back to being a stuff country. To this extent the UN has done nothing to bring about any change. Unless you think the tyrant North Korean government has somehow suddenly had a change of heart.

Thanks for simplifying

The sanctions are going to stay in place until they pull back on their nuclear testing, and they'll just as easily come back if they ever resume aggressively testing nukes. I don't see how Kim Jong-Un is going to ride this out.

You are posting in response to a thread showing just how the UN has brought about change. I don't know what you're trying to say here.
