Author Topic: NETGEAR Adapter Dilemma (A6200) Fixed?  (Read 2511 times)

you're having swapping problems or something

disable all adapters besides that one and make sure its only allowed to connect to your internet
This is what I just set it to:

Is this what you mean?

The Ethernet had some red X through it until I right clicked -> disable. I feel like it's always been like that though, so I don't know why it would cause any issues.

Alright, it's been about 10 minutes since my last disconnection. It seems smooth ATM but there was one instance where a twitch stream stopped loading (Chat was fine) and it took about 10 seconds for the BLF to reload.

EDIT: Wow, bad luck. As soon as I posted this, I lost connection to steam again. Time stamped for note:
Quote
4:26 PM - Connected again and rejoined chat. Last time I had disconnected
4:31 PM - not nawaji is now Away.
4:42 PM - Your state is set to Offline. Disconnected again
4:42 PM - not nawaji is now Offline.
4:42 PM - Lost connection to Steam, will rejoin chat automatically when connection regained.

Doublepost: Disconnected again. Lost entire connection from the internet this time, had to unplug / replug adapter for it to work. I'm on the brink of buying a new adapter now. Can someone recommend an adapter for me that won't malfunction constantly?

i had lots of dns problems until i set mine to the google dns servers (forgot to do it when we moved)

wait stuff zsno beat me to it

It had no effect on me before, but I guess I can attempt it again.

Do I have this in correctly? Nearly positive that I do, but I want to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong. This is in the IPv4 properties.

Double edit: I had major lag while posting this :(

While most sites are starting to use IPv6 as a standard, youll find that IPv4 is still the most used protocol for sites across the world.
Also yes, you have your DNS set right for the google authoritative DNS servers
Heres a link to alot more public common DNS servers you could try
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/tipstricks/a/free-public-dns-servers.htm
Also, heres another site you could use to obtain current free DNS servers
https://www.opennicproject.org/

Also, one more thing, I used to have a NETGEAR adapter with the same problem of disconnecting randomly. The only fix was to get a new one. Hopefully this isnt the situation your adapter is in

I held a steady connection for about 30 minutes, until it disconnected once AGAIN.

I don't think there's more possible solutions. I need a new adapter. Please hit me w/ suggestions.

yeah id have to agree with you on that.
hopefully youll find something, i just decided to buy a lower priced one and it works pretty well.

not to sound like a douche but get a pci-e wifi card

I ordered a Netgear A6210 a few days ago, it just arrived today. No issues so far 30 minutes after installation.

my router has been doing this absolutely weird thing lately where i cant connect to any website at all.

on the other hand, steam is still online, i can hear people on discord, and chat messages are coming through (except images)

but my internet is still "not working." then if i try to restart it, the internet light turns red (indicating that the internet wont work) but then turns green about 30 minutes later. really annoying

Can you connect to Google-based sites? (Youtube, Google). I had an issue similar to that; it was a DNS issue.

usb wifi dongle = cancer
