idk how good any of that looks; none of it is really practical since it's all game-related, but there's certainly a lot of code (even if it's not all Fantastic)
Based on what I learned from people who hire for game studios, even if you only put in placeholder art, working projects > code samples since it shows you can pump "finished" content out and work towards a goal.

yeah a college degree is worth it depending on your field
in my field of engineering, they will put your resume in the trash pile if you don't have at least a bachelor of science in it.

but like trinick mentioned, if you are in a field with a readily demonstratable talent like programming, you can write the code to prove your worth. i.e. your accomplished programming projects.

ye tho a lot of that stuff would be gamemodes and stuff for blockland i guess it still shows that

i don't have to worry too much about the cost of college luckily but i think it tends to be worth the time certainly. i'm starting for computer science next semester (probably "with entertainment focus" since they specifically offer that) and i guess i'm not expecting too much based on the kinds of things i've heard and experienced about cs courses

but i'm sure i'll still learn plenty useful stuff

so you're saying i do not need a website portfolio?
im a character artist/game artist

I was referring solely to programmers. Obviously an artist needs a way to showcase their talent, so a website would not be a bad idea.

More than that, what school are you referring to that teaches things like compiler design?
Late but I wanted to answer anyway:

We also have tons of other fun topics like Operating Systems, Machine Learning, etc.

People learning compiler design while I'm stuck learning about how I shouldn't forgetin do OOP in an OOP-driven language because it "takes too long". :(

In the states its really not worth the debt

I mean, it is if you do something with the degree/knowledge

depends on the field. as an aerospace engineer wannabe like myself yes it is very worth it because

they will put your resume in the trash pile if you don't have at least a bachelor

You're not going to your silly buisness college! You are going to stay at home and become an artist - just like your mother!

just get Daddy to pay for your university like the rest of us *pompous laugh*

I started creating my own portfolio-esque website in HTML and CSS for my architecture projects. I got stuck with a feature i wanted to add and never continued with it after that.

But yeah, I plan to be an architect, and I don't know if I'd even be able to attain my licence without a college degree. So I'd say it's worth it for me.

When you die and "reincarnate" or whatever people believe in every bit of knowledge you learned from college is gone.

So no, it's not really worth it.
