A tip: You unlock air drops by opening them, either from other people's drops stolen or you use the "Surprise me!" drop and hope that it doesn't randomly give you a broken, empty, free drop. It's done that to me sometimes.

Once you've unlocked a good drop, use combat perks that pertain to your weapon of choice. Me, I like to use the axe stamina drain and the less damage taken while holding axes and the sneaky perk.

Found your problem.

when will half-decent netcode become a global industry standard

the game isn't really the pinnacle of UE4 products anyways.

I use less damage taken while holding axes AND the defense perk that adds 10% damage resistance for 35% damage resistance overall. Take some iron-4-skin and that's 50% damage reduction from everything!

wait, doesn't body armor give 50% protection?

could you technically boost to 100% damage protection?

I'm going to have to try that.

team fight, me and my friend killed one team, then his game crashed.
it was me vs 2 other teams, 10 minutes left, i went to the middle. the two teams were fighting it out, i hid.
explosions and everything it was amazing. and during their final fist fight, 1v1, i ran up to them and beat the winner to stuff with my tier 3 machete.
my first win

how's the fist fighting
fists is usually what draws me into games because I need to man mode stuff and ATATATATATATATA

A lot of early game kills are with fists. They have a faster swing speed than most other weapons.

It's... interesting. It's based around quick thinking/reactions so if your ping is above, like, 0.5ms you'll probably just end up mashing buttons. You can sorta read your opponent too, and build a fighting style to counter their style.

Punching someone who is blocking results in being staggered
Pushing someone who is blocking staggers them

Pushing only staggers people if they are blocking right?

there's no kicking I assume?
the best first person unarmed combat experience I've had was in fistful of frags (rip) where I'd grab the brass knuckles and rush down people while decking them in the face and kicking them in the loving rooster

There's a perk in the culling that gives you 50% more damage with brass knuckles, so you could have a fun time if you find them.

Bump

A giant update was released today with many things such as private lobbies, performance fixes, and more balances. Check out the whole list here.

Also the game is 10% off right now. We should host some private matches sometime for the forums.
