Other than getting a job what do I need to do and what should I prepare for?

Done as in dropped out or done as in graduated?
if you dropped out you best get your ass back within your grace period

getting a ged is NOT worth it at all.

regardless of what anyone says, hiring practices in the workforce for jobs that require a high school diploma or equivalent favor the high school degree over the GED. GED process also is a royal pain in the richard and if you're a junior or senior, it's a terrible idea to drop out when you're more than halfway done and have to re-do freshman/sophomore curriculum just because you were stubborn.

I still only make around $1400 per month so not that happy with the situation.

Consider apprenticeships. Work while studying for a profession.

Someone I know had a 4.0 grade point average and went to college to study journalism.

Now works full time as a receptionist in a small time doctor's office.

it wasn't for me, in kentucky
I just signed up on the website, took a couple of (required) practice tests, then scheduled a real test, and took it

but it definitely makes u feel inadequate :(

Start applying to colleges IMO. If you graduated early you are probably academically adept enough to get lots of good scholarships, you might even get free tuition.

Make sure to build up your resume now that you're out of school though. Don't just become a potato, you should start working on projects and jobs.
