I really don't want to play 5e. It looks much more complex than the other editions and I'm not sure if I could handle it.
er--it's really not. i've played every edition (other than the first) and 5e is definitely the easiest
4e is fun, but it's nothing like the other games and they mysteriously removed a ton of alignments (like lawful evil and chaotic good)

Well, determine a manual because I'm going to invest time to only read up on one.

From the looks of it, it sounds like you might do 5e.

If you guys don't mind doing a completely different RPG I could run Paranoia. Just give me a day's notice.

THE COMPUTER IS YOUR FRIEND!
PARANOIA is an award-winning role-playing game set in a darkly humorous future ruled by a well-meaning but deranged computer.

The Computer is happy. The Computer is crazy.
The Computer will help you become happy. This will drive you crazy.

Being a citizen ofAlpha Complex is fun. The Computer says so,
and The Computer is your friend.

Many traitors threaten Alpha Complex.
Many happy citizens live in Alpha Complex. Most happy citizens are crazy.
Which are more dangerous -- traitors or happy citizens?

Rooting out traitors will make you happy. The Computer tells you so.
If you are not happy, The Computer will use you as reactor shielding.

Being a Troubleshooter is fun. The Computer tells you so.
Do you doubt The Computer, citizen?

Troubleshooters get shot at, stabbed, mangled, incinerated,
poisoned, stapled, blown to bits, and accidentally executed.
This is so much fun many Troubleshooters go crazy.
You work with many Troubleshooters. They all carry lasers.

Aren't you glad you have a laser too? Won't this be fun?

Stay alert! Trust no one! Keep your laser handy!

The above copied verbatim from the back cover.

I believe I mentioned an elevator sequence earlier in the thread.
As you might have gleaned from the above, in Paranoia, you ostensibly work together, but you always look for opportunities to backstab the other characters. Fortunately, you have 5 backup clones for a total of 6 lives.

Our characters:
C-R-EED, played by Conan (going by in-game names here)
Rose-R-LMA, played by Aquadoodle
U-R-DUM, played by mlockha
Tom-R-BOO, played by Tomiaz
and last, but not least, Pi-R-SQR, played by Zealot     [applause]

The troubleshooters came to an elevator, which they need to take up dozens of floors to a hangar.
In the middle of the ride, U-R-DUM uses his treasonous electroshock mutant power to stop the elevator.
C-R-EED shoots out the light. A brief laser fight ensues in the darkness, resulting in two smoking wounds.
Rose-R-LMA repairs the light. However, U-R-DUM continues his treachery by using his mutant power to drop the elevator! It descends hundreds of stories, reducing the occupants to a fine red paste. Except for C-R-EED, whose treasonously mutated rubbery bones and the GM rolling really well allow him to survive. C-R-EED, the recording officer, calls the Computer with evidence that U-R-DUM sabotaged the elevator. Coincidentally, U-R-DUM-2, his replacement clone, also calls the Computer to blame C-R-EED for the elevator crash. Nothing was concluded from these conversations. As the elevator is no longer in service, the remaining four troubleshooters must climb the elevator shaft. However, C-R-EED somehow the dice must be with him manages to repair the elevator, sending it upwards. It slams into the troubleshooters climbing up, except for Rose-R-LMA, who jumps on top of the elevator and shoots open the hatch. After a brief fight, C-R-EED kills Rose-R-LMA. At this point, the Computer just gives up and sends the clone replacements directly to the hangar. C-R-EED gets off on the floor below their destination, sending the elevator up solely containing Rose-R-LMA's smoking corpse. Unfortunately for him, nobody notices.

End Program

3.5
Yeah, many consider 3.5 and Pathfinder to be the most "crunchy" and hardest to learn because of there being so many rules. If you're starting off, it might be better to learn 5e to ease yourself in. You already made some characters in 3.5 you said, so it really depends on what the other players want to do.

I've been DMing for a while if y'all need a DM sometime ;)

I'm most familiar with 3.5/PF however.

So, Rigel is going to be our Dungeon Master

If anyone wants to join then just say so

Two people have joined since Andro and Foxscotch started, and one has abandoned us, leaving a void to be filled. Any of you cigarettes want to join in? I'll fill you in on the details through PMs should you be interested. It'd always be nice to have another familiar face in the party.

Is Blockland still doing that DnD server?
