You do you, but I would rather kill myself than enlist.
is that due to the fact that you'd have to cut your hair and you weigh 120lbs soaking wet?

just joshing

anyways, I've seen both happen. I've seen someone go to basic the summer between their junior and senior year and it seemed to work out well and they were a beast track and cross country athlete when he returned for his senior year

personally I would wait, give it more time. Focus on school right now, start getting in shape with calisthenics. Destroy your ASVAB (did you already take it yet) and make sure joining is what you really want to do.

i still need to take the asvab, but thankfully the MOSes that i want don't require a super high score. i think i'm gonna wait and give it more thought in senior year, but just focus on school right now. i'm fairly in shape, i've been working out and running a lot. ty for advice!!

I imagine these people have degrees in engineering beforehand.
For the most part people dont just jump into a specific job in the military. They aim for that job and get trained how to do that job with college level education for said job. It looks very good on a resume as you might guess.

Another reason people join the military is the drastically reduced cost of schooling after 4 years and the schooling programs inside the military, plus the general job experience is great to have.
Im still thinking about the military myself, either Navy, Air force, or Coast Guard. I refuse to join the Army or Marines.

what makes you say that?
Because they just aren't for me. When it comes to ASVAB scores, Army, Marines, and National Guard require the lost scores while Navy, Air Force, and Coast guard have higher scores. I am able to go for any branch with no problem with my scores so i should take advantage of that. Plus Air force and Navy have a higher focus on tech, which is what I'm aiming for.

from what I've heard from my time in the military you get less benifits in the nat guard

some do some dont, plus 100k re enlistment.bonus

i'm prolly gonna go with babysteps. if i like it a lot, i'll probably just go active. i don't wanna jump into that without knowing if i like it or not, though

Honestly reserves arent an accurate representation of active duty status

Plus with the guard I dont think you get the gi bill pt VA benifits after youre done

yes you do
in my case, i can go to any college with the word "illinois" in it for free
along with health insurance and stuff, but thats a few years away

If they get a commission as an officer yes, but you do not need to have a college degree before entering the program as an enlisted sailor.

Our very own Stocking supposedly enlisted in the nuclear program with the Navy after graduating high school.
