The trolley
The worker
My name is not important

Author Topic: The Trolley Dilemma  (Read 6732 times)

A trolley is careening out of control with a whole bunch of people inside. It's going to fly off an incomplete bridge unless you divert it with a lever.

If you divert the trolley, it will run over an innocent road worker, killing him.

Do you save the trolley or the guy?

how large far of a drop from the bridge is it

Enough to kill everybody in the trolley.

Shouldn't this go in forum games?

Obviously the trolley. Two lives are more precious than one. Also, i'm pretty sure if the worker guy could make the decision himself he would do it to save everyone else.

Not really its more of a question than a game

what's so difficult about this question

looks like I'm pulling the lever

that bitch should've finished the bridge

have someone get the road worker away from the tracks and then pull the lever

what's so difficult about this question
You have to weigh 1 life against many. Which raises the question of just how do you value a life?

Also, the question is usually phrased to ask which is the more moral choice.
If you do nothing a large group of people die. But if you do something, while you save a lot of lives, you choose to kill a person.

Is it amoral to let people die if you have no responsibility? Is it even less moral to choose to kill an innocent man?

i throw myself under the wheels of the train to slow it down!!!!!

better to save multiple lives than just 1

yell at the road worker while simultaneously pulling the lever
