Author Topic: Where did this facebook trend come from?  (Read 1634 times)

I see random facebook pages do this all the time. They take an image, slap some white border over it, say something really unfunny. Sometimes they put their page logo all over it and they lower the quality of the image so bad it looks like a jpeg from the 1980s.

Is this done on purpose? Who would just make really bad quality stuff like this on purpose?

I believe those are called "dank memes". They are theorized to generate from the aether pervading the Internet, and are propagated by soccer moms and middle schoolers.

okay that one's a little funny

So it's like to make fun of those stupid facebook stuff like "just girly things" for example.

But does it stop being a joke when people actually take it seriously?

Facebook trying to stay relevant

I knew a guy who got arrested for selling flintstones gummy vitamins in the school parking lot.

He got 4 kids addicted.
