Is buildbot wrong?

well in things like fortwars it can kinda count as "cheating" since it gives people who build their base from scratch a disadvantage

If you ask me, there's nothing wrong with buildbot, unless it's used for things like spamming snake builds.

I hate people who go on freebuilds just to buildbot one specific build and dont delete after they leave

buildbot completely obliterates the point of freebuilds and is generally just used to print out that god damn cottage save.
whenever i see someone using it when i'm hosting, it's a instant ban with your build being nuked, regardless of the quality.
the only time which it would be ok is if a save error happened and your stuff was lost

I don't think there is anything objectively wrong with using Buildbot. I personally love fortwars, but I've been building virtually the exact same plain base for years since I don't really have the skills to make anything more interesting looking. Honestly it'd just save me a whole bunch of time if I started buildbotting it rather than slaving through the same recipe I've always used.

When I used to host fortwars, I always allowed buildbot as long as it wasn't used for anything of ridiculous proportions or spamming.

This is 100% incorrect. Buildbot only allows you to build wherever you'd be able to build normally.

To be quite honest, it's not that it's wrong, it's that there really isn't much of a point to it.

You don't need to really keep tossing down the same thing repeatedly. "Haha remember that one thing I made? alright here let me buildbot it again." And if you're not really the kind of creative person who can make unique things, then building servers aren't really for you anyway.

I don't agree with it being bannable though. Fortwars are typically loaded as it is and they normally have a rule against killing builders so having a 'faster start' isn't an issue. If anything, it's bringing more action into the server faster. And you still have to wrench/print/event everything.
Though not directly related to buildbot, but still on similar terms. @BT and img2brick are far worse to be using. They don't provide any purpose but spam. A message could be made in print bricks, or an event. An image could be posted as a link in chat, or as a link in an event.

I once used buildbot to load a house I had made in singleplayer onto a house building server. There was plenty of space and brickcount available, so all it was was a nice addition to the server. What's wrong with that?

Yeah honestly i don't see buildbot as being an issue, the only time there's an issue is when someone loving buildbots beta city 16, or something they didn't actually make. If you made what you're buildbotting, wanna use it without having to re-build it, who cares? it's like making a duplication.

Don't know why people are so restrictive against these things, just give guidelines and rules, and there won't be any terrible issues.
