Author Topic: RUMOR: Nintendo "NX" controller leaked (FAKE AF)  (Read 2572 times)

NOTE: This "leak" was confirmed to be a hoax. Below is the original post in its entirety.

Over the past couple of days some interesting information has popped up relating to the controller for Nintendo's soon-to-be-announced console, codenamed "NX."

It began when the blog Dual Pixels received an image from Idriss2Dev on reddit supposedly depicting the NX controller.

The image above was rotated 90 degrees right from the original, which can be viewed here.

As you can see, it is an oval-shaped controller with two white thumbsticks. Note the lack of physical buttons.
This closely matches a patent filed by Nintendo in June 2015.

It was later discovered that the image on the screen is a still from an Unreal Engine 4 demo. This led some to believe that the image is faked.

NeoGAF post showing proof

Now, today, new images were posted to reddit by user perkele37. They seem to depict the same controller as above, with the screen turned off and in a black colour.

- Only the upper 'nubs' of the sticks move. The bottom part is static (kind of like the circle pad, but it moves along the bottom 'sphere'.
- The rollers on the top feel and look pretty much identical to a mouse scroll-wheel. Though I do don't believe this will be the final design.
- Haptic feedback is feels like Apples 'taptic' engine. Not like regular rumble.
- 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom

To clarify, this is the controller unit for the console.
Dev-kit, so it's not the final design, obviously.

/discuss. I'll start by giving my opinion: it looks... alright, I guess?

I also should probably mention that this is a rumor and is in no way official.

It looks so bad and would feel so bad in your hands that it better not be real or else the designer needs to be fired.

Also they tried too hard to make it look "legit" by having a Wii U gamepad sitting right there.

I feel that there are multiple problems with having the control sticks ON the screen
like if you're gonna go with that design why not have the screen cut off a bit before the sticks? that would make way more sense but this no

wasn't this already confirmed fake

well i hope it is fake

Fake or not, that's a hideous concept.

That stuff just looks stupid

This is obviously fake,if this is in the Nintendo NX for real the console will fail completely.

trust me, nintendo isn't gonna completely cease production of the wii u for this

it looks like an autistic wii classic controller

where are the buttons
