Author Topic: Ortho update #999  (Read 707 times)

I know a lot of you don't care about the progress of my orthodontic treatments, but here it is for those who do
here's the timeline of the stuff that's been put in my mouth

May 2013 : Plastic spacers put in between two bottom teeth and two top teeth
June 2013 : Top spacers taken out, replaced with METAL spacers (yeouch)
July 2013 : Bottom spacers taken out, also replaced with metal spacers
August 2013 : Palate expander put in roof of mouth, spacers left in
September 2013 - January 2014 : Expander tightened every night, spacers taken out in January
February 2014 : Spacers taken out, expander glued closed, braces put on
March 2014 : Nothing
April 2014 : Braces taken out (wtf)
May - September 2014 : Nothing
October 2014 : Expander finally taken out (dumb stuffs forgot it was even in there)
November 2014 - February 2016 : "come back in 4 months"
March 2016 : Started going to new orthodontist, loving finally

Today I just got my spacers put back in, and this time around they jammed TEN in. One broke during the process and it's the worst pain in the world to have a plastic spacer break while it's jammed between your teeth. Anyway, they're basically restarting the whole process besides the palate expander, but a lot quicker. On Wednesday (the 30th), I'm getting my braces put back on. I just think it's handicapped how my old orthodontist never did anything. I would have had my loving braces off this year, but instead I'm going to have them until like 2018 or 2019, then I'm still going to have a retainer until 2021 or 2022. This sucks, but at least it's sooner than later.

On the plus side, you'll have nice, straight teeth for the rest of your adult life.

Not like me.

My orthodontist died.

what the stuff
He died in his sleep a few days after the last time I went into his office. I'd probably have some sort of metal in my mouth by now if he hadn't. It was a few years ago, and I don't have any plans to go in anytime soon unless I need to.

But yeah, I hope you next few years with braces will go well for you.

it doesn't really bother me at all but i hope nobody else minds cuz i'm 19 and not getting braces now rofl

this wouldn't have happened if you flossed

this wouldn't have happened if you flossed
teeth were forgeted up to begin with
I have like 2 permanent baby teeth because no adult teeth grew under them

you could've prevented that forest fire by flossing, son

ill use my razor sharp floss and grind my teeth down

see? now you don't need an orthodontist anymore!

job well done 👍

That's rough. I had braces when I was younger and I can empathize with how that feels. It's a major relief once they're finally off for good though; your bare teeth feel unnaturally smooth for a bit.

Yeah, I remember it was a bumpy ride when I had to get them put on and them taken off within a month, it hurt like a bitch. Time to relive it soon lol

In a similar boat.
One of my front bottom teeth is out of line (squeezed in too tight, and as a result moves behind another one), and I do have half a molar that could be removed/replaced (filling fell out years ago with half the tooth).

I could get them sorted by an orthodontist, but I'm not that concerned by it, it's not that apparent to others, and I do not want to be a 20 year old with braces.
