I would at least try testing it with another monitor if possible before tossing it, could save a lot of money. Unless you have a warranty, which in that case send it in for them to repair it.

Did you try force shutting it down and restarting it? This happens on my desktop, but it's just a graphics display glitch. Often times looks just like this.

laptops have hdmi/vga out?
my brain doesn't have a memory i/o


Check your gpu.

Something similar happened to me once and the gpu actually melted.

i get crazy artifacts and colors on my 970 while installing gpu drivers on ubuntu or while starting up before initializes the graphics

This actually worked (for now)
I might have to RTV it anyway cause it probably looks bad for the store to have a forgeted pc on display but
maybe some chuckleforget was too rough with it


Return to vendor.

It's either a bad Video cable or it has malfunctioning on-board parts.

Either way, too much trouble.

my pc did this and the GPU was totally forgeted afterwards. had to get a new gpu cause mine started showing black and white squares everywhere playing a game

So this is why IT support always asks if you have tried turning it off and on again.
