Author Topic: new computers in media class  (Read 1531 times)

the new computers are all connected to a hub computer at a different school.
the problem? the hub only has 1GB of RAM when the old computers had 4GB each.
so they need to install ram over on the hub (obviously physically since you cant download ram)
everything is slow

UPDATE: I believe it's the vmware guest that has 1gb, because the website says 4gb.

Do you not have to render things in a media class?

Do you not have to render things in a media class?
no but everything I have to do is slow

on second thought, in powerpoint if I use the crumble transition it has to render 3d

it lags like crazy though

Who was the Einstein who thought that would be a good idea?

No one...? The most likely reason they're using such crappy specs is probably because of budgetary restrictions, we can only assume.

Einstein wasn't alive for computers

If there is a budget cut, why would they buy new ones

yes he was...
then lets say he wasn't alive until 2016, when the idea was made

the reason this was done because there were computers that did weird things, but weird things now only happen if its with the hub. also when a program needs installed it needs installed on the hub and then every computer will get the software

Why not just use downloadmoreram.com

Einstein wasn't alive for computers
They had computers back then

Sure they were the size of a bus but still

Why not just use downloadmoreram.com
yeah i have 2048 ram now because of this website

If you can only afford a GB of RAM for a central hub then I think there's bigger problems

then lets say he wasn't alive until 2016, when the idea was made
pretty sure the idea of a centralized processing area with many interfaces to it has been around for a while

my school was using one ~5 years ago
it may have had better specs, but still had issues with too many users at once
