Author Topic: Getting a job?  (Read 1592 times)

How? I really don't know where to apply. I have school from when I get up to 2:30 and I get home about 3:00 because I walk home.
I'm 15.
Any suggestions on where to apply or how to find places to apply? I really have no clue on what to do.

Funny because im in the process of doing this.
Walk into anywhere you want, really. I suggest food marts or fast food places since they're pretty easy.
"Hello, can I speak to someone about filling out a job application?"
bingo

I just got a job as a cart clerk at Winco.

It sounds like a stuffty job but I'll get a dollar raise every 6 months until I'm at 17 dollars an hour, I can transfer to any other city that has a Winco, I get health, dental, vision insurance, I get stock in the company, and I get a retirement fund.

Also, I don't have to work as a cart clerk the whole time, if I stay with the company I can choose which department to work in and eventually get a job in management. ($20-30/hr)

Also every week or so, walk in or call and ask if the person in charge has given any thought into your application. Don't be annoying, but sound like you really want the job.

Get a resume in order too. There's plenty websites that will give you layouts and tips for them. Handing in a resume makes you look organised, and they'll (hopefully) keep it so when they have a position open your name will be the top of their list.

NEVER call in to check on your application. You should always go in person, it shows determination. Plenty of companies will not consider your application if you call in to check on it.

I dunno man, I mean obviously showing up in person is better but my brother got a job at the same place I applied to by calling every week.

It depends on the employer.

Oh, okay.
I applied for an ice cream place and Friendlys. If I get both I'm only gonna choose one, and all my faith is going towards the ice cream place which is where my bro worked

Also look out for volunteering jobs. If you're dedicated and show interest in what you're doing, they'll probably just eventually hire you. I started volunteering when I was 13 and got a job at that same place when I was 14.

This is all good advice. I just procured a job at Chick-fil-A. I went in, asked the person at the cash register for a job application. I got one a few minutes later. Sat down, filled it out, and gave it back to them. Yesterday they called me a schedule an interview, I went in, did it today and got the job.

Grocery stores are some easy money.  I didn't even know I was looking for a job, and I walked out with one.  It was all a blur.. But it ended up being a great job!

It's really not difficult looking for a job, it's just the type of job you want. There's many out there.
In my opinion, I would try applying for some grocery store job as your first job

Making a resume can be more helpful. More volunteer experience can give you a higher chance to be hired, but it depends on what you apply for and what the experiences were

Look online and apply for casual positions.
Some jobs are particularly good for students in nature, and will advertise themselves that way.
