Last time I had a few guards in a compound with high walls and barbed wire and a large heavy gate as my apartment. Funny story actually they had never seen lion king so I downloaded it one night and sat out there with the night guads, they loving loved it.
On the down side, I was nearly kidnapped one night walking home from the bar.

To what extent are you allowed to arm yourself as far as defensive (non-lethal) weapons go? I've heard different things varying from zero tolerance to encouraged.

next time i see someone going to the US i'll spam their inbox with "dont get diabetes! dont get fat! don't lose too many iq points! don't get purged by satan! don't be deported! dont get lost in macdonalds! dont be shot by police for using your phone! dont be mauled to death by feminists! don't have your buildings crashed into by planes! dont have a housing crCIA every year! dont nuke asian countries! dont stereotype X! dont stereotype Y! dont stereotype Z!"

Malawi isn't even in west africa so why tf yall even bringing up ebola?

Also OP that's pretty cool that you're helping out. theres a program at rochester university that offers a 3 week trip to malawi to do help people out and i've considered taking it but declined for schedule reasons, so i'm a bit jealous rn

All weapons are illegal, but I'll probably take a knife with me after what happened last time.

I was walking home from the bar late at night, when a black mini-van (pretty rare in malawi) started following me. As I sped up, the mini-van sped up. I decided after turning the next street corner I would sprint to my apartment gate which was about 40 meters away. As I turned the corner, I sprinted. All I heard behind me was the mini-van open up its side door and accelerate hard. As I sprinted across the road, the van almost hit me, I started shouting for them to open the gate as the guards stormed out and the van drove off as the people in there were shouting.
Needless to say it scared the loving stuff out of me.
