Author Topic: Harriet Tubman will be on the $20 bill-- $10 and $5 bills changing, too  (Read 13991 times)

The idea that Susan B. Anthony will replace Alexander Hamilton on the $10 bill was proposed a few months back, but a vote passed and the treasury announced today (Wednesday) that Harriet Tubman will be replacing Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill while Hamilton remains on the $10 bill.

Apparently, Jackson is being pushed to the back of the bill with Tubman on the front rather than Tubman entirely replacing Jackson.

The $10 and $5 bills are changing as well. Here's a breakdown of the newest currency:

Pretty cool I guess...

who the forget is harriet tubman
the forget, what's wrong with andrew jackson

who the forget is harriet tubman
the forget, what's wrong with andrew jackson

harriet tubman was the lady from the underground railroad who helped free a bunch of slaves

andrew jackson dismantled the national bank of america or something but apparently started the trail of tears. i always found it hilariously ironic that someone who was against a national bank was on federal currency-- i'd imagine that's the LAST thing he'd want lol

Why replace Jackson?  He was a loving badass

Replace Hamilton, he proposed a central bank which is what the federal reserve is and that is a huge part of the reason why the US dollar is being devalued so bad

didn't we "replace" the $10, $5, and $50 already? I remember hearing this stuff but I've never seen a bill with someone else on it.

not that i know of, but the treasury officially announced it today or something i guess

andrew jackson was a stuffty person and he didnt even support federal currency

there's no reason for him to be on our money. harriet tubman is a way better figurehead

so does that mean it's now worth $12?

andrew jackson was a horrible person and wouldn't even want to be on federal currency anyway. harriett tubman really doesn't seem like my first pick for currency but i do think it's nice to finally get something other than old white men on the dollar bill.
