I've been seeing several posters for "women in STEM" at my school - any thoughts?

let them do what they want

i love girls and maths

it honestly feels like the people who push for more women in STEM are women who... aren't getting STEM degrees...

(forget i hit the post button, not preview)

... but instead are getting a degree in gender studies or something

women can't have real jobs what the forget

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

Basically, the posters are saying women should get real jobs rather than be like receptionists and stay at home moms.

I don't really mind. A lot of the gender difference in engineering and science is due to a lack of interest among women in those subjects. If they want to encourage more people to start STEM, all the better.

What is STEM?

Again, not saying I disagree. I feel that all people should be able to get any job they want, I've just been seeing a lot of "women in stem" advocacy posters in my school, lately

I like to see people other than dudes in all my classes, so I'm all for it if it's what they want to do

i think women are socialized not to consider STEM as an area they could have a career in so its a good idea to be trying to reverse it

if a woman is interested in STEM (and few are) then it would be nice for her to know that there's a group with similar interests.

it doesn't seem like posters like that are shoving anything down anyone's throat.
