Author Topic: Opinions on women in STEM advocacy/encouragement?  (Read 1559 times)

The more the merrier, I'd say.

i think it's cool
we need more ladies, a lot of them who are interested just don't feel it's "right" and that's not cool yo

it honestly feels like the people who push for more women in STEM are women who... aren't getting STEM degrees...
this amuses me

the "let them do what they want to do" is cool as long as there is no outside influence (public pressure or societal norms or something else) that is influencing their decision

the more people in STEM the better what the heck you go Girls

as long as they can admit that they are inferior because of their own fault, it dosnt matter what they end up doing.

Coming from you that's loving rich

Didn't you make a thread cause you thought no one liked you rofl

i made a very valid point that you were to dumb to see.

in this age of woman's rights, and their much desired right to choose. they want to be excused from bad choices. when it dosnt work that way. nothing is stopping them from succeeding, but themselves.

and extremely misogynistic people/societies that exist all around the world

pretty much

My mother worked as a sales rep for companies filling the whole spectrum, from surgical equipment and specialised materials to computer technology and cutting-edge programs (at the time) such as OCR software and AutoCAD.  She also had many administration and project managment roles, but that's just a small fraction out of the many high-end jobs that she had.  Of course, she couldn't continue when she was diagnosed with severe M.E. and Fibromialgia.

So, I'd say advocation for this should continue.  I just hope that the tumblr SJW's don't incorporate it into their arguments.

I don't have any strong opinion.  They shouldn't be given any outright edge simply because they're ladies, but if they want to pursue STEM I see no reason to stand in their way.

i think women are socialized not to consider STEM as an area they could have a career in so its a good idea to be trying to reverse it
This. I think that many women would be great at the job, but just don't feel that it's right for them because they're female. All this is trying to do is correctly dissipate this stereotype.

Now when it's trying to get women involved just BECAUSE they're female, than I feel that theirs an issue.
