Author Topic: DayZ Megathread [.60 EXPERIMENTAL RELEASE!]  (Read 2054 times)

Welcome to the world of DayZ, hit by a new and presently unknown infection which has wiped out most of the world's population. You are one of the few that have survived and now you must search this new wasteland in order to fight for your life against what is left of the indigenous population now infected with the disease. Go solo, team up with friends or take on the world, as you choose your path in this brutal and chilling landscape using whatever means you stumble upon to survive.
This is DayZ, this is your story.
DayZ is a gritty, authentic, open-world survival horror hybrid-MMO game, in which players follow a single goal: to survive in the harsh post-apocalyptic landscape as long as they can. Players can experience powerful events and emotions arising from the ever-evolving emergent gameplay. There are no superficial tips, waypoints, built in tutorials or help given to players. Every decision matters, there are no save games, no extra lives, every mistake can be lethal. If you fail, you lose everything and you need to play again from the beginning with nothing but your wits, and your two hands. Fight the hostile environment, where every other player can be friend or foe and nothing can be taken for granted.

DEVELOPMENT ROADMAP
DayZ is currently in early alpha and we see a lot of work ahead of us in order to make it the true authentic multiplayer experience we want it to be. Current version is including only small subset of game mechanics and serves mostly as test bed with core technology that should serve as basis for future additions and improvements. Currently planned key future features are:

  • Playable vehicles
  • Wide variety of native animal life, including both predators and companions
  • Player created constructions in the environment
  • Extensive interactions with the environment and crafting options
  • Streamlined user actions and interface
  • Upgraded graphics renderer
  • Support of user mods

We estimate that reaching Beta version with all key features present will take more than one year from current stage. All features and plans listed here are subject to change, we may add or remove features as seen fit during development process.

My personal experience
While I absolutely agree the devs are lazy stuffs and dont update their game, at all. The game is still quite fun. They did promise a .60 patch wich will optimize the game by a ton, or thats what the devs said. They also promised that patch will be released february 2016. So yeah... Anyways, I actually do enjoy the game, if I play with a group of other people atleast. I only play alone when I am trying to find better gear. Also it gives you a lot of opportunities to jack off while you travel from point A to point B, not even joking. I usually travel from somewhere near the coast/beach to the north-west airfield wich usually is a 30-40 minute run depending on where you are. Anyway while playing in a group, or clan this game is allot more fun to be honest. Being alone is just getting your gear and once you got it... Now what? While in a group the chance of getting shot in the face is allot less thus that means you wont lose your precious gear. Well I still do but who cares. The game is still $30 wich is in my opinion not worth it. But if you really have nothing to do and want to spend some money, sure, go ahead. I did record some gameplay with me playing with a clan/group wich was quite fun. Its p much 1/3rd me running to the meeting point, wich I got wrong. 1/3rd me guarding the door and getting sniped in the face and 1/3rd me getting a good spawning point to get me gear back but I was too late. I linked the video in media so it should be there.

DayZ mod
Join the scores of desperate survivors in the free "Arma 2: DayZ Mod",
the award-winning and massively popular persistent multi-player mod created by Dean 'Rocket' Hall for "Arma 2: Combined Operations"!

Go Solo, team up with friends or take on the world as you choose your path in this brutal and chilling landscape using whatever means you stumble upon to survive. However the infected are not your only threat. You will be forced to fight for your life against other survivors, over rare necessities like food and water, in your constant battle to survive in this wicked world.

Basicly its DayZ but better, well it depends on what you prefer. I honestly prefer the SA but who cares. The mod pretty much has more weapons, items and vehicles and stuff but the AI is p much handicapped. You also cant enter the majority of the building wich is a big turn off for me. Its also allot more optimized and its probably cheaper to but combined operations then the dayz standalone. I got the CO for like 4 bucks on G2A.

arma2 DayZ: Epoch is an unofficial open source client and server mod based on DayZ Community Edition. Arma2 DayZ: Epoch Mod brings more RP to DayZ Mod with; Metals based economy, NPC Traders, Lockable Vaults, More roles, and more.

Arma2 DayZ: Epoch is set in a future time after the Great Infection. Humanity is slowly returning to the wasteland, industrious survivors have begun to join together in small groups and rebuild society. Small camps of merchants have started to pop up to do business with survivors who collect goods from the wasted remnants of civilization. Wholesalers have landed on the shores offering imported goods to aid the rebuilding effort.

All is not safe however some vestiges of infection still remain and rogue bandits still roam the countryside preying on unsuspecting survivors.

Survive, explore, build wealth, make your way through the harsh environment and assist in the effort to rebuild, or burn it all down its your choice, live in the Epoch.

The art of warfare (Or TAW for short) is widly known gaming clan. The have "Divisions" for p much every well known game, Going from Archage to World of Warships. And ofcourse, they also play DayZ. The DayZ division is devided into 2 smalled divisions, The EU and the US division. I ofcourse am in the EU division. Its a fairly small group of arround 20 people wich we usually split up in 2. We do mandatories (Id rather call them missions but whatever) every thursday and sunday. This group/clan is the only thing that keeps me playing this game because alone its really boring. If you want to see me playing with the group I linked a video in the post above.

dayz is garbage, i'm going to wait until there is a decent zombie survival game out that that actually runs.

you should include the mod

standalone dayz is a terrible game

Id choose the sa over the mod all day.

then you have a problem
standalone has less features and terrible optimization as an entire game than a mod created for a game from 2009

Just the fact that you can enter more than 5 buildings makes the SA much better imo

Just the fact that you can enter more than 5 buildings makes the SA much better imo
yes this justifys your claim so much

I love DayZ to bits but the optimisation is terrible. 0.60's upcoming and promised engine change sounds promising, hopefully it'll be a smoother experience.

How long has this game been in "alpha" again? Three years?

>Doesn't include mod in OP
>Doesn't mention stuff like Epoch
>"Playable Vehicles"

Espio go home you're drunk.

What do you think the reserved post is for?

>Joins empty server
>At NWAF
>Making my way back to kamy
>Shoot some zombies for stuffs and giggles
>Get shot at
>wat

Im done

Last time I played it I had all the top-tier gear and sustainable food and water within like an hour of booting up. Then I spent about an hour running along a railway until I realized that there were much better uses of my time that don't involve running across an infinitely boring and empty map waiting to get shot by some douchebag I can't see. forget this game.

I hope Escape from Tarkov is actually good. DayZ had potential but the whole "muh simulation" hard-on garbage and non-existent development just kinda turned it into a steaming pile of dog barf
