Decided to start up Pokemon Blue...

I got the itch to play some Gen 1 Pokemon, haven't played in a long time. I usually play Yellow or Red, but I decided to play Blue. I also always pick Charmander, but this playthrough I decided on Squirtle. Usually I play with whatever Pokemon I like, but this time around, I'm going to try and build a competitive team. Thinking Alakazam, Exeggutor, Chansey, etc.

Not really any huge advantage, it just allows you to get the move earlier on in the evolution tree. Blastoise learns Hydro Pump at 52, whereas Squirtle learns it at 42.

the stats correct themselves as you evolve them
(well, more like, the actual stats are calculated from  the base stats, which change upon evolution)

i got pokemon yellow on the virtual console not too long ago. my team consists of:

lvl 25 ivysaur
lvl 26 mankey
lvl 27 sandslash
lvl 29 kadabra
lvl 29 charmeleon
lvl 25 pidgeotto

can you trade through the internet? i want to evolve my kadabra into an alakazan
