Battlefield WW1 would've been way better and would be very easy to distinguish between this game and the true first Battlefield

i know the name is stupid but it is the first battlefield game set in ww1
making it the earliest game in the battlefield series timeline
and there isnt a battlefield 1 game as the first one was battlefield 1942 followed by vietnam and then battlefield 2

so it kinda makes sense

eh, no matter which way you twist it its a pretty terrible choice for a name
if you don't know anything about a franchise and you hear it consists of "game 1", "game 2", and "game 3", you're going to assume that game 1 was the first installment in the series. if they had simply given it a name like "game: trenches" or something that's clearly not an indicator of continuity like "game 1918" there wouldn't be that confusion

It could be a play on the title itself; Battlefield. Since WWI is considered the first 'modern' battlefield it makes sense for a Battlefield game set in WWI to be called Battlefield 1. Though it might have been better in that regard if they had called it Battlefield One or something similar

The western front was pretty stuff on that end but I'm pretty sure the Eastern Front and the colonies (as well as the Arab uprising) were more interesting.

Also I love how they show a zeppelin at the end as some scary loving thing. There's a reason they retired Zeppelins from the war early.
