The version numbering was changed a few times, I think retail started as 1.0 something then changed to version # (V5, V6, V7, etc.) instead. v0002 was more or less a sub-beta (seeing as there was a retail beta as well).

Then he changed it to v7 and explained v002 was version 2. 1.0 to 1.04 were versions 3-6 and version 7 was the latest update.
