goddamn i just spent the last like 7-9 hours playing a single campaign in RO2/rising storm
i was on the japs' side the whole way and it was just excruciating battles and became a tug-of-war, we started to push the americans all the way back to their last territory just by organizing amazing banzai charges (and i put in a few kamikazes too) until suddenly, at about the 3 hour mark when we were going for their last territories, they actually managed to start fighting back
we lost one battle, but just that one battle began a losing streak of battles and losing territory, and we were at an even bigger disadvantage because banzai during defense isn't the best thing to do. long, drawn out battles sprung up, and we kept on getting pushed back to the mid-point of the territory map, artillery from hell, and all the worst things that you'd think could go wrong did. hell, at one point we weren't even able to take the first objective. we even failed to take back iwo jima.
but then it happened, a true soldier by the name of 'big papa' started giving us help through microphone chat, and giving us commands yet not sounding strict/demanding like one of those pro-expert gamers, and he wasn't even commander except for one battle
we soon started to pick up our momentum again, and began winning battles just as the enemy was pushing us back. at this point, we relied mostly on our teams' combat powers, ours being somewhere the 100s and the enemy's in the 10s. see, when one team's combat power runs low, they're forced to defend. if it runs out, they're forced to surrender, and the game's won.
big papa lead us on a great reconquest of the pacific, and we picked up our winning streak again, using banzai at will, and decimating the american forces
after about 7 or 9 hours straight of constant artillery barrages, gunfire, flamethrowers burning my comrades right infront of me, and hell, our leadership under big papa and i as squad leader 1, we managed to take back our land, and as the sun outside rose and shone on my window, we forced the enemy to surrender due to how much we've done to their combat power
i'm now seeking rehabilitation centers for post traumatic stress disorder
may those who fought for their homeland never be forgotten in the longest rising storm session i've ever been in
