Author Topic: why are most mobile games bad?  (Read 771 times)

i always thought that mobile games were a great concept until i actually got a smartphone. all i see are stuffty rehashes of clash of clans and other misc war games. and if they're not dominating the top of the app store, it's poorly engineered games. maybe that's just my opinion idk

because the average business or person making a mobile game aren't doing it to make a fun game like on PC and consoles, but to make some $$$ off microtransactions and ads

extremely limited controls and an audience quite seperated from people who play on other platforms

there's plenty of limitations as well

to have any sort of decent controls in the game, your thumbs have to cover up a large portion of the screen.

to have any sort of depth in strategic games, you pretty much don't get downloads because the mobile audience are rich impatient dumbasses who just wanna rock paper scissors everything.

Appealing to casuals willing to shell out their entire wallet with free-to-play skinner boxes where you essentially do nothing but sit on your ass and tap on stuff all day while waiting for a timer to expire is much more profitable than making a real game.

If you want, I can suggest some real mobile games that aren't stuffty microtransaction-filled skinner boxes

Because the FTP model took over. We could have prevented this. There used to be good mobile games that you paid for like dead space (which actually controlled fantastically) but no one bought those types of games. Now EA removed it off the store.

Although someone I know (an actual game dev)  is making a Mario 3d world ripoff that surprisingly controls great and looks like it's going to be good.

They're not made to be fun, they're meant to steal the cash outta' your pockets.

because why would you play a game which requires time and investment while stuffting or on the bus?
