You don't need a "k" since he doesn't look like the OC type, and the 300mhz isn't making a huge difference.
Stock cooler is fine for a non OC i5.
980 is simply faster, and even with the 1080 still a good deal for $350.
XFX uses Seasonic as OEM, which is a much better PSU than the Corsair CX (the RM and AX are on par tho)

Why buy a 980 when the 10th are coming out? Besides a 290X is better tho. If iirc.
And believe me. I said I wouldn't overclock tho but do I regret not buying a K for the little extra money so much.

Also not a modular PSU. It's like an unwritten rule to get at least a semi one.

first off amd cards cant run fallout 4 worth a rats ass

second the difference between the 980 and the 1080 isnt even that big of a deal for the price so its not like you have to get it, and you have reliability and proven performance with the 980

third, no, thats not an unwritten rule

Yes they can
DirectX12 compatibility
CABLE MANAGEMENT.

Yes they can

above shows gtx 980ti oc performance with those processors on fallout 4

above shows video card performance on fallout 4, no idea what processor

so yeah, you're right, they can run it

if you break your loving bank and buy the best one

its just not worth it, just stick with nvidia

DirectX12 compatibility

980 handles directx12 just fine

CABLE MANAGEMENT.

anyone with the smallest amount of skill can achieve good or great cable management with a non modular psu

Wha, gay.
The hardware is not fully compatible
Why the he'll would you bother if you can get a semi one for a few extra bucks. Besides if you have a case with little room (like me) for cables, even semi ones are ass.

980 is faster, and uses a lot less power. And like I said before 1080 is pretty much his entire budget.
Literally the only difference with the K version is the ability to OC.

Some pretty loving cables aren't going to increase your performance in a 40 dollar case.

They are missing one instruction, which just means a only few games might lose frames. But think of the losses when running gameworks games on AMD.

Because there's a difference between a good non modular and a stuff modular one in performance. For a budget build just tolerate some more cables if it means a lot higher quality of the PSU itself.

290X is the titan equivalent? And the difference i power management is going to make your bill go skyrocket.
For the few extra money itd but the K
MODULAR FOR CABLE MANAGEMENT! Non modular is literally ass. im literally only using 1 cable that came with my semi-modular PSU. All the rest would be cluthered somewhere + making it literally impossible to close the back of my case.
And $900 isnt budget twat. My budget was 700 euros and even I got a semi modular

Uhh, 290x is around a 780 ti, and that is close to the 970. The 290x uses quite a lot more power here, which is mostly felt in heat.
There's zero reason to buy the K if you're not going to OC, as it is completely the same as the non K version.
No, it's not "literally ass", it's just some extra cables you zip tie into the 5 inch bay or bottom of the case. When the choice is between stuff quality modular or much better quality with a few loose cables.

$900 is his budget, and with a 1080 he'd have around $1 left for the rest.

Yeah.... No.

Because heat is an issue. As long as you dont OC the card itll be find otherwise its factory fault or whatever
Hes gon OC it, I guarantee it.
I bet you never had the combination of a modular psu + a stuffty case with no room for cables + a full drive bay. Oh and the CX500M isnt stuff fyi. Itd get a stuffty modular over a supreme non-modular everyday
And im not telling him to get 1080, im telling it its stupid to buy a 980 when the 1080 is coming out soon-ish.

>gtx 780 ti

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Dual-Link-Graphics-03G-P4-2881-KR/dp/B00GDIIIPW

out of stock everywhere thats worth a stuff, with 5 used ones starting at 280 dollars

539 euros might be the starting selling price but its certainly not the loving price anymore

also can i get a source on that website?

what are they rating on, user satisfaction or card performance?

i owned this dirtstuff box for over a year

it never had trouble, it didnt explode, and it worked fine

does that mean its a good power supply

no, its stuff, and im lucky it didnt fry my loving computer

just because your power supply is working it does not mean that its good

If it isnt stuff because apperently it "explodes"
Than englighten my why the CX500M is stuff?
