Author Topic: cincinnati zoo kills gorilla because a kid fell in the enclosure  (Read 15495 times)

Gorillas are actually relatively shy and sensitive to human life. This scenario has happened before and the outcome was much better because the boy was unconscious and the people were (relatively) quiet, so the gorilla didn't feel under threat or provoked. The outcome of the Cincinnati situation would've been much better if the boy wasn't screaming and the people up top weren't in a mad panic.

Not that I blame them. I mean, it's a 450lbs gorilla with the strength of like 10 fully grown men.

The kid was unharmed nor did the gorilla at any moment showed aggressiveness. This could've been prevented if the stuffty mother would've paid attention to his kid.

Besides, they say that the kid got into the enclosure and even told the mother. If the zoo was built properly, it would've been a hard obby, not a "jump in".

I don't see any other reason than momentary panic why not to tranquilize the gorilla.

I mostly agree with this.

Also, FTFY!

It gets kinda difficult to tranquilize something that weighs 200lbs. That's a lot of mass. Try 450lbs. Could take up to 7 minutes to sedate a fully grown silverback.

So you shoot him with a very sharp piece of metal which causes a good bit of pain. Now you have an angry 450lbs gorilla. Add a small child to the equation.

black on black crime is getting out of hand

News storys are saying the gorilla was slamming the kid against a rock for a full ten minutes and molesting him.
Why the forget are they trying to justify the shooting with these bullcrap lies like these.

These gorillas aren't only aggressive though.

One gorilla saved a kid.

That kid would be dead if that were the case, wouldn't last 1 second.

20 fully grown men.

they made the right call, unfortunately

everyone on imgur blamed the kids parents for not paying more attention and i guess i can agree with that

Natural selection is a thing.

If you ignore all the warning signs, managed to get through every obstacle and your parent's don't love you enough to care then you deserved to get mauled by a gorilla.

This is like the guy who went through every warning sign and fence in an amusement park just to get his hat and then his head was decapitated.

Guess he can't use that hat now.
