LGBT youth homelessness rate is really crazy (like 40% of homeless youth are LGBT or something) and the Self Delete rates are also really high.

So I wouldn't say we're as far from the Uganda level as you think
are you really comparing special snowflake confused teenagers with a victim complex to loving uganda now

I am merely bringing awareness to gay pride because people are oppressed on a global level because of there loveuallity and thats something that needs to be fixed, and will be fixed one step at a time, but not because I am proud to be gay

bringing attention that gay people exist doesn't do anything

Being murdered/committing Self Delete/becoming homeless/being evicted or fired are all awful things. So is the way Uganda treats LGBT people.

I'm pretty sure you can be killed in Uganda for being gay. But I wasn't really trying to conflate the situations as equal. I was just saying theres still a lot of dumb stuff that we need to fix, particularly legal things like the stuff he was talking about, that lots of people don't know about.

thats not true
yes it is, you can be gay/biloveual/whatever without having to have recognition that you're gay, and then just because they get recognition, the problems some of them experience don't just get magically fixed because of it

so you are gay, you have a significant other, what now? you just need to go into isolation and never be seen in public as a couple together?

yes obviously

not getting recognition that you're gay doesn't mean you can't be gay in public, it just means you don't need all these parades and dedicated months, hell there are plenty of gay girls in my school and i don't bat an eye to when i see them together

yes you don't bat an eye but people get denied jobs, get kicked out of places, get attacked by police officers for holding hands with someone of the same gender, obviously these are all extreme cases but they all happen

my original argument was that they don't need all these parades and months and stuff, but telling me these things happen to gay people doesn't change the fact that parades aren't going to change the mind of extremely bigoted people

awareness is knowledge and knowledge leads to understanding
we have come a long way in gay rights and we didn't do it by pretending that gay people weren't real

My name is Yoweri Museveni no special snowflakes allowed

awareness is knowledge and knowledge leads to understanding
im pretty sure most people who are bigots understand how gay people think, but still hate them on religious basis or young taught ideals, and this awareness won't suddenly change them, just as i know why gay pride parades and months exist, but still hate them due to there uselessness

we have come a long way in gay rights and we didn't do it by pretending that gay people weren't real
this is true, but pretending people are doing anything helpful by just raising awareness to gay people is a stupid view to have, people could be doing so much more to help gay people in this country and other countries, but waste most of it on having parades, dedicating months to gay people, and lots of complaining without actually doing anything, instead of actually helping the worse off gay people get out of the bad situations (and you can't really do anything about the young gay people because their parents can generally force any view upon them, even if they disagree, without question, so besides putting them into foster home systems, nothing can actually be done in this day and age), and doing close to nothing in other countries besides raising awareness

my avatar's already literally gay but gay-ify it anyway
