Author Topic: [Bricks] Emil's Brickpacks (Update to Small Ramps Corners and Glass Panes)  (Read 10774 times)

I've recently returned from my hiatus, and I've finished two of the brickpacks I've been working on for the past month. That's all you need to know.

First off, I introduce the
Half-Plate Pack
This brickpack contains only 4 bricks, but their specialty is that they are like the vertical plates except you can place two of them in the same space. Like shown below:

This makes a lot of things possible.
You can now make pixel-art smaller than ever, you can now have text on bricks smaller than ever, and you can now finally have a nice small functioning keypad (with numbers on them!).

Here's the trick:

The bricks each take up space in the grid; 1x2 studs in horizontal space (height of course varies per brick).
But one half of it is a solid brick (as represented by the green ghost brick), while the other is empty space.
This does not affect collision, so you can paint, hammer, and wrench the brick properly, rather than the area where the green ghost brick is.
This means you can overlap other bricks into that empty space, but it might not always look pretty (because of potential overlapping faces).

The only downside to these bricks is that they have to take up 2x "depth" space, so if you want
to have fancy pixel-art hanging on your wall, then you need to make sure there's space inside the wall for it.

Next up, an addition to the Small Ramps Pack, the

Small Ramps Corners Pack

This brickpack has a whopping 48 bricks, which are essentially just corners for the Small Ramps, so if you don't
have the Small Ramps Pack then these probably won't benefit you as much.
These bricks do not have DTS collision (ramp-like collision) just yet, I figured it wasn't 100% necessary.
But when I get the time I will of course add it.

IMPORTANT
If you want the Small Ramps Corners then you should also download the updated version of the Small Ramps Pack.
Otherwise the ramp-faces' normals won't align correctly, since they were incorrect on the Small Ramps.
This update also brings DTS collision to all of the Small Ramps bricks, and it fixes some of their back/bottom-face textures (alongside the normal-fix).

That's it for now. I will continue to update this thread with updates and new brickpacks in the future. Happy building.

holy crap those vertical plates overlapping is gonna make things so much more detailed. I can't wait to see some of the stuff that people do with it.

Beautiful. Just beautiful. You are a god.

YESSSSS
could you do the same overlapping thing but with small bricks? nvm
apart from the corner's collisions this is perfect

I was going to tell you to use a stretched top for the tiles for permanent orientation but you beat me to it. Nice overall.

vert plates have been around for years by now...?

vert plates have been around for years by now...?
Yes, but you couldn't overlap them.

Did you even look at the op lol?

Ok now to make 4x wide bricks so we can have even smaller pixel art. We must go deeper.

Jesus christ, just when you think things couldn't be more detailed

thanks OP, this is gonna be really helpful

does the update version of the small ramps still conflict with the old version from before the 4x and 8x long ramps were included?

Holy forget, amazing

This is a dream. I Love it!

does the update version of the small ramps still conflict with the old version from before the 4x and 8x long ramps were included?

It conflicted? How? I'm pretty sure I only added bricks to the brickpack, without changing anything. So I'm not sure how it would conflict.

last time I tried using the updated version none of the previous small ramps would load properly requiring them all to be replaced which was quite a hassle lol
havent tried since then so it may be fixed idk what caused it
