Author Topic: Does anyone own a chicken (or duck)  (Read 5425 times)

I've had a total of 5, but they all perished.

Penny was mortally wounded when I forgot to latch the gate where my dog was kept and she got out and chewed her neck.
Xantia was discovered paralyzed and unable to walk. After some attempt and getting her to come around, we put her out of her misery.
Timia and PJ died the same day from a 2012 heat wave.
Lacey died when the neighbor's pit bull ate her. I went out and just repeatedly shot the dog in the face with my airsoft gun until the neighbors came running hearing its yelps.

does that mean everyone in minnesota is his slave
that's "indentured servant" to you, starfish

After that incident, we stopped doing chickens as a hobby.

it's weird to think about you going nuclear, let alone being angry

You haven't seen nothing yet

I want to get a hen but probably as a babby
It will live in my house until its big enough and then it can stay outside and I will pick it up and hug it whenever I feel like it because I raised it well
They're cute and big fat fluff balls and they make noises they're so cute

This might be an extremely unpopular opinion but I think you need to own a pit-bull the same way you need to own an alligator

My only issue with my chickens are loving opossums. Red foxes usually sit around the pen I have them in but they can't go in. They just sit there or walk around and scratch/bark. Opossums, on the other hand, little starfishs are as agile as a loving roach. I let go of my dogs to hunt them whenever I see one nearby. Little pests don't deserve to live.

I live in a wooded area and theres a fox there and we feed it dinner scraps

what a dumb reason to be looking for a chicken

id be looking a chicken so i can eat its legs

hey they don't gotta be small to be cute
look at buff orpingtons they're big chickens with a ton of fluff on them
Yeah most of ours were buffs but we also had a bante pen. They take up less room, make less mess and make cute sized eggs, plus they come in lots of different types/looks. God I miss Bob, our bante rooster. That motherforgeter had spunk. He would take on the buff chad roosters and beat them loving stuffless. He was an alpha bante, loving badass. Until he would up dead one day, battle scars a many. Could have been coyotes or the chad roosters ganged up on him. I gave him a proper burial. He didn't take stuff from no one ;-;

I've tended to over 500 chickens in my life and they are not easy pets.

I wouldnt recommend it. While it certainly is possible to keep them as pets it takes lots of dedication and stuff on the floor.
It'd be a lot easier to keep as a coop animal.

i have 2 different friends who own chickens

What about ducks? They're cute too
