Author Topic: Above age 20, why are we still playing this game?  (Read 5294 times)

they obviously ain't kidding when they say you're here forever

We have Mini Empires, Fortwars, Trench Wars and, well, you can really do almost anything in Blockland.

You want to build an industrial infrastructure and pretend it works because other games are too simple/restrictive to provide what you want?

Open up Blockland, think of a set of rules to go by, and start building like a madman.  No restrictions.

Also, I've had plenty of hilarious/intriguing/historylesson/autistic conversations with people, because the playerbase is like a spiked mace that you can't get from any other blacksmith.

Lol.

I like to develop things in Blockland because it is pretty straight forward.
Given some constraints because of engine limitation, sure.
But at least you don't have to write everything yourself and it is pretty extensive and there are still lots of things you can make/do with this game.
It's just force of habit and because it is easy.
And the forums is my home away from home, my virtual home, i dunno.
I just can't keep away forever.

Habit I guess. I get on Blockland sometimes and server hop for a little while before I get bored. I'll most likely stop playing and posting all together in August when I move.

Blockland turned out to be my little virtual home, I made some great friends there, I've learned a lot of things that became useful for me on the long run (speaking english for example) and it's overall still a fun and charming game that sometimes delivers some special and memorable moments, I love it.

Nice to see you again btw Wink! How's school going?

This, it even taught me how to type like a normal person as well (Due to me joining when I was 11)

This.

I don't really play it anymore unless a friend demands i get on to forget around or something. It's lost its touch with me.

I like to develop games as a hobby.
And I see Blockland as a sort of game developer program with build in 3D and multiplayer capabilities.
It has all the tools needed for it.
From programming to modeling to a slick building mechanic.

There is no age restriction on game design.

Hey Raven! School's going well. Still in mechanical engineering and made it to junior level - got this far, so I might as well finish the degree. I'm also doing research work in MRI over the summers. basically sums up the past two years for me.

Are you still in environmental engineering?

Awesome man, your last two years will be a lot more fun. That's when the internships and classes specific to your field start.

Yeah I actually graduated with my B.S. in May and passed my FE exam a few weeks ago. I already have a job lined up this coming August that will consist of 4-6 years of training. I'm pretty nervous going into it because I feel so clueless lol. Classes can only teach so much.

I just keep my servers up and drop in sometimes.  It's good to see familiar faces and have a chat, it's more of a social platform to me with the added bonus of game play on the side.
