long answer: people all over the world invest money in plenty of stupid stuff but it's their stuff and nobody's forcing you to partake in nor look at it
example: i don't understand why people spend so much on cosmetic mods for their cars because any car can you get you anywhere for just the same price but then i remember that i have a lot of expensive and dumb hobbies like sneaker collecting, mechanical keyboards, and yoyoing
