The world needs more hitscan weapons.
Hitscan Gun: Hurts before bullet hits target.
Hitscan RL: Spawn an explosion when you click.
Hitscan Bow: Hurts before arrow hits target.
Hitscan Spear: Spawns an explosion when "thrown"
They don't have to have a model, they can just be recolored

Hitscan Raycasts? Whats the matter, can't compensate for the ballistics of a projectile?

"ballistics"? you mean comically slow projectiles that make no sense and are basically impossible to hit at longer distances?

But it's an amazing feature in every "realistic" weapon pack! How could you not like it?


What are the weapon packs that uses hitscan? I honestly wanted to make a weapon pack someday and I wanted to try the hitscan method out, I hate how we can avoid raycast projectiles by walking sideways.

You basically have to had played Doom or Quake in order to do pvp in blockland

I never did, I just hate how in Blockland I can avoid bullets by running sideways because they're slow enough for that, not that it's because of the other player's aim.

raycast weapons seem to be exactly what OP is describing, they hit as instantly as the server can receive your input and fire the gun if there isn't any additional code involved

blockland, however, will not support client-sided hit detection like some games do. at least, you wouldn't want it to if you could figure it out

Some of Bushido's old weapons (sniper rifle, pistol) were raycast/hitscan.

why would you do this

hitscan in bl is probably disliked since the kinds of lag people usually see in bl is a lot more jumpy or high compared to games like tf2, and since the hitscan is conducted server side the hitscan shots themselves are delayed and so players with less lag then have a huge advantage over other players

projectile weapons makes this game unique imo compared to most other combat games and makes fighting scenes/videos look interesting as well. they work well with blockland's style even if they aren't particularly modern or realisic.

anyways, hitscan rl is an incredibly bad idea and hitscan default weapons would probably be op as hell
