Author Topic: My parents make me do the bills at age 13?!  (Read 7082 times)

Ok I know this sounds stupid but I mean come on this is not how it is suppost to be my parents keep setting up stupid stuff for me to do on the weekends and it's starting to piss me off! Sunday I have to do the bills for their little crap store they own. It makes me wish they never even owned a store to begin with. One time I even asked my mom about summer vacation and she was like "Ok you know what you don't get a summer vacation because you don't do much you little brat!" Wtf why must every thing in my life be so unfair? Its ridiculous how they could do this stuff to me and I have no control over it and every time I try to get out of this bill paying stuff they make me do they say "We're not talking about it!" Seriously they are just out of control if they want to do the bills they should just do it their selves! Not make me do all the bills every Sunday long. And since I have a learning disability known as Dyslexia it makes it even harder to do this. Sorry for the rant guys, but this is just so frustrating for me. And yes I am home schooled.

Do you guys have parents that also do this to you? If so please tell me.

Man that sucks. I have a friend who's parents own a store and he doesn't do bills, I think he just cleans the store up but idk. Honestly, I think they should be doing the bills, giving that kind of priority to a 13 year old doesn't sound right to me. It could give you some experience for your own bills one day but that's still a really dumb idea.

I have friends in thier early 30s who still do not have a budget and still pay things late, even though they had money.

Not enough parents push money issues onto kids.

yeah but why do it before the kid has even thought about having a job

If you don't train a life skill like this until the moment you need to use it you are already behind and unprepared.

Stop whining and be grateful that your parents are teaching you these skills at all.

I spent nearly every weekend and summer vacation working at the family businesses from about 4th grade until I started college. Parents did a stuff job of managing their own finances but I got a lot of valuable work experience and learned how to manage my own time and money a lot better than most of the kids my age.

Good, you sound like a whiny bitch anyway. Learn some life skills and be grateful for it when you grow up.

Well if I already know then why do it again? Of course I will do the bills when I have my own life.

What do you usually do??? Maybe they are making you do this because you're lazy??? idk.

That's not how learning skills work, kiddo.

Tell them to have the paper shredder do the bills

half-assedly explaining something while simultaneously being a richard to someone who is pissed over the thing that they want an explanation for doesn't get your point across whatsoever dude

What's there even to explain? He never asked for anything to be explained. He's learning life skills and he's complaining about it.
