Author Topic: My parents make me do the bills at age 13?!  (Read 7035 times)

bills for their store its stated right in the op
yes but pretty much
Does that mean you're putting in orders for inventory or something? Are you digging through receipts or something?
is what i meant
i'm not a business guy so i don't know exactly what businesses are billed for besides like utility bills

Is OP getting rewarded for his hard work of doing bills
I mean, I don't think he should be forced to do it regardless, and I don't think I have anything special in particular to add to the conversation atm
i forgot what i was gonna say lol rip
but theres some great points in here already
I don't even get a single reward. Every time they look at me do the bills they are like hahaha with an evil laugh.

he doesn't owe his parents jack stuff for them following the law (see: neglect and truancy)
it was their choice to bring him into this world, not his and now they have to take care of what they put out

yes what kinds of bills are they having you do?
They are making me do bills with items that they bought for the store and I have to do them.
I also sign the invoices n stuff like that Basically everything to do with the bills.

Everyone bringing up child labor laws needs to realize this is his family's business. That makes things different:

Quote
The Fair Labor Standards Act's (FLSA) minimum age requirements do not apply to minors employed by their parents, or by a person acting as their guardian.

Quote
Minors under age 16 working in a business solely owned or operated by their parents or by persons standing in place of their parents, can work any time of day and for any number of hours.

You're still not saying anything.
We're not asking what the bills are for, we're asking what you mean by "do bills"
Are you signing invoices for received products?
Are you clicking a few buttons to make an online payment for the products?
Are you writing/signing checks for the received products?
Are you putting in orders for products?
Are you responsible for managing the money with which the bills are paid?
Are your managing the entirety of business's books?

off-topic but don't they have a class or a subject for business stuff like paying bills in school now

also i'd agree what khaz was saying but as a person who hasn't held such a responsibility i wouldn't know myself; my parents were chill and not actually that forceful on me to pay this bills and that bills except reminding me to owe them the amount of money for the amount of earbuds i broke lol. i do my chores such as take out the trash and wash dishes and etc (maybe doing the laundry counts) and they pay me, and im not complaining about that, that's just the only responsibility i have which i guess can be compared to real life; paying someone's loans

i'm only assuming op's parents are doing it because of tough love
