Author Topic: My parents make me do the bills at age 13?!  (Read 7036 times)

lack of information is a problem but guilty until proven innocent isn't the way to go
we can't really pass judgement upon this poor soul until we get the info

I haven't seen anyone pose this as an argument. The first part of that sentence is such an exacerbation of anything anyone could have possibly said here, too.
Doing bills on a sounds like a loving godsend compared to the stuff me and my friends did growing up. This one friend I had was basically working every day after school as an employee for his Dad's cleaning company, and in many cases he'd have to work solo.
loving check yourself out against those living in less fortunate places like Africa or Afghanistan, mate.

So he shouldn't do a chore because his parents sound like cunts?
what a rebel

im telling it like it is. read the OP again. his parents sound like complete cunts. that simple
for all anyone knows OP could just be over-exaggerating things, it's not like he has to tell the complete truth

So he shouldn't do a chore because his parents sound like cunts?
ok clearly you're not reading my posts thoroughly so im gonna put this here for you again

his parents are forcing this responsibility and then loving shutting him out and putting him down because he has yet another problem with the bullstuff that his parents should be doing

Didn't catch that, although I'm pretty sure he's just saying "he has problems with dyslexia in many places"

I haven't seen anyone pose this as an argument
I have quite a few times I've read this topic over

not really lol

Of course it's McJob and only him

the forum's angry australian

He lives in Australia ofc he'd be mad

I don't really like how people are bashing OP for complaining about his responsibilities then promptly complaining about how much more difficult  their lives were when they were a kid. I mean hey it might be true, but if you're going to use the argument that "other people have it worse" the same applies to you too. Idk I guess this is semi-off topic but I just thought I'd point that out. (I'm indifferent to the subject of him being forced to do bills. Seems like a minor annoyance he could shrug off but hey everyone's different)

Of course it's McJob and only him
well it's not like you said nobody's doing it except for one person anyways heh
clownfish was doing it too on one of the early pages and I'm sure I saw quite a few other people say something along the lines of "your life could be way worse"

Most of the arguments were "it's good for you to learn" rather than "other kids have it worse". It only devolved into that once people got feisty. The "African kids" fallacy shouldn't even count (especially since McJorb said it :^)

Is OP getting rewarded for his hard work of doing bills
I mean, I don't think he should be forced to do it regardless, and I don't think I have anything special in particular to add to the conversation atm
i forgot what i was gonna say lol rip
but theres some great points in here already

Why are people on this forum so antagonistic? If they made this kid rake leaves or mow the lawn or something I'd get it, but putting this weird financial burden on a kid is a different story. If he's too young to understand how to do the bills (and I can see legitimacy in that - after all, he has dyslexia) then they're giving him a responsibility that is more than mechanical, you feel? Like he probably knows if he messes up then he and his family will be in some stuff, whereas you can't really mess up your living situation by raking leaves incorrectly.

OP, provided your learning disability doesn't get in the way, I feel like paying the bills could become really automatic and simple for you, and it would effectively be a chore that your parents are making you do. That is, unless you've been doing this for a while already and you still are having trouble. If so, you could always just do a horrible job on purpose so they don't make you do the bills anymore.

How does this process work? You're doing the bills for a store? Does that mean you're putting in orders for inventory or something? Are you digging through receipts or something?

yes what kinds of bills are they having you do?

yes what kinds of bills are they having you do?
bills for their store its stated right in the op
