You can deny it all you want. You will also face that inevitable void of endless darkness.
If more people realized that death is an endless void of pure darkness more people will try to find solutions to become immortal.
So, instead of believing in god's bullstuff fairy tales and trying to burden science because "god doesn't like it" then why don't more people try to find ways to avoid the endless void of darkness. Praying to God surely isn't going to help.

Steven Hawkin is already well aware that death is an endless void. Many, MANY incredibly intelligent people know death is an endless void.

The light you see when you die, it's your eyes shutting off.
The dead people you see, hallucinations caused by the delirious dying brain.
About 7 minutes (the brain dies in 7 minutes after the heart) of your life flashing through your eyes in dream time. Which dreams appear to last longer than what they are so it could feel like hours/days/weeks/months. Some aren't lucky to experience this because the brain gets destroyed during their death and unable to live the final 7 minutes.
Everything beyond that is the endless void.
