"According to the complaint, Valve provided money, technical support and advice to such websites as CSGO Lounge and Diamonds, which take bets, and OPSkins, which runs a market where virtual goods are traded and can be redeemed for cash."

Good. Those stupid item gimmicks and rarity bullstuff is stupid anyways. No virtual item is worth upwards of hundreds of dollars.

i think it's stupid too but tbh if someone's dumb enough to spend that much on a weapon skin, then that's on them lol

except Valve allows that to happen, which sounds wrong. And they're not doing anything to reduce that, they are literally profiting out of it

they allow it to happen because it makes them money

to clarify the lawsuit is over the skin gambling sites that allow you to sign in using steam api, not the crate/skin system itself
you'd be surprised how many people on facepunch got confused at that fact

Some people may just be using it as a gambling site alternative, it probably has less restrictions on it.

Yeah, how dare they profit off their own product!

Anti-gambling laws are stupid as forget. If I want to play some back-alley dice games with my friends, I shouldn't have to drive to the Rez to do it.

what was that one site that simulated csgo crates? i know there (at least) used to be one

edit: found it

Isn't loot crate a gamble then?

You spend hundreds of dollars and don't know the stuff you're getting.

stuff I live in connecticut, I can get in on this lawsuit.

I hate how people always make a big deal about items costing money. Sure, I might have spent a couple hundred dollars on some virtual items. I've also made about a thousand dollars in return. Stay mad. It all depends on how wise the spender is.

It'll be interesting to see how valve decides to respond to this though.
