Author Topic: Steam's gay 15 days trade mobile authenticator bullstuff  (Read 7867 times)

So why bother having trading, market and gifting options on steam then?
Trading: Because someone wanted a virtual item that another person had

Market: Because valve realized they could make even more money by letting people sell their virtual items

Gifting: Because valve knew people would want to be generous and give their friends free items

you also missed my point. You're an adult who's complaining about not being able to trade virtual items for money when you should already have a steady source of income to buy the games with.
If you were 12 I could see your point, but you're almost thirty.

Also lighten up. I was only half-serious anyway.

It's a ridiculously long limit. I don't want to use their app which just adds another tedious step to selling a goddamn 15 cent cent card. I honest to god prefer just waiting the 15 days. I'm not in any rush. My password and computer are plenty secure and I'm not an idiot, tyvm.

Like, they could literally fix the complaining problem by allowing people who don't have a mobile device/don't want to use it for whatever their reason is, and then in 15 days it'll take effect and there will no longer be an escrow, only an email confirmation. So people who *want* to have it on don't have to worry, they still have 15 days if they get hacked. And people who don't want to have it on are 100% willing to accept the risk that if they somehow manage to be such an idiot that they get their email AND their steam hacked at the same time, they their items are gone.

i recently set up the mobile authenticator and don't have any complaints as of right now.

thankfully my steam account isn't worth that much anyways. no csgo, only emoticons and a couple of trading cards and non-tradeable, generic tf2 items. i'm worth like $5 at the most lol

i think steam forcing you to use the mobile authenticator was due to them receiving countless of "scammed" "hacked" accusations & they don't want to deal with that stuff anymore/if someone does get scammed or hacked it's a lot less rare & they can do something about it now.

Steam can't provide any security without ruining it for everyone
Their system is ultimate laziness

I didn't think it was possible to sound like a twat as much as you have with this post. Well done, mate.

You must be the most impatient and careless person in the whole world if getting an authentication code to use your account that holds upwards of hundreds of dollars worth of games and virtual items is too much effort.

Hell, on smart phones (at least with the Android version, I'm willing to bet iOS does this too), the Steam app will actually just do a push notification so you don't even have to deal with launching the app.

And this is a safeguard to protect your stuff.  Stuff that is both worth money and is made up of your money in the form of all those skins and games you have.  You could not have the extra security, but good luck if/when your account does get compromised and all that valuable stuff is gone.

Some states have gun waiting periods that are shorter than steam's trade waiting period. LMFAO!

You can buy a gun faster than buying a 15 cent trading card.

Thanks steam, thanks America.

I can buy a 15 cent trading card right now if I wanted & have it in my inventory in less than a minute.

This is where you've lost your argument.

How? It is faster to buy a gun.

Use the mobile authenticator or set up the desktop authenticator and stop being a dip, and you'll have a hundred trades done before you can get your hands on a single gun.

Ah, but you said that it only applies to some states. Therfore, if I'm in a state where there's a 15+ day waiting period, I'd need to pack up my stuff, move to the new state, register with every service that my address has changed (including the ID I need to buy the gun), and then apply for the waiting time.

Somehow, I feel like that takes more than 15 days.

Meanwhile, it takes literally 2 minutes to loving download the Steam app, login and start using the mobile authenticator. You're just a lazy cunt, possibly a troll, and it's rather amazing to see the same person who said "love is just chemicals in the brain" or some stuff get so confused by a bit of modern technology.

Sure if you want to be technical and include all the states of america on their own individual laws on gun control.

Or you can stop being so literal and take fact in knowing that SOME states can allow you to buy a gun faster than you can trade a 2 cent TF2 crate.
