Being able to play Blockland on Gameboy Color

Author Topic: Being able to play Blockland on Gameboy Color  (Read 11304 times)

Ok so I found my Gameboy color and I found out Blockland doesn't support it. Uhh... What? Ok so like the title said- ADD BLOCKLAND TO GAMEBOY COLOR!

So here's the controls I came up with:

•The arrowpad could be like arrowkeys on a keyboard

•B could be for jumping, holding it activates the rocket boots

•A could be for using a tool

•Select can be used for Switching bricks

•Pushing A two times plants a brick

•Start brings up the menu, and from there you could also chat by it bringing up a keyboard and using the arrow keys to chat

•Select+ Pushing A two times in a row triggers the "alarm" emote

•Select+B triggers the question emote

•all other emote are useless ass forget so you can leave them out

•there should be no thing to look around, this should be a 2D pixel game that looks like if it is 3D (like Earthbound). Blockland would look better as a 2D game and the hitboxes would sure ass hell be better than the handicapped hitboxes we have right now!

And before any trolls tell me that the Gameboy Color can't connect to the Internet, what do you think the link cable is for? Plugs right into the Ethernet port so there is internet access there! Ok I don't know about wireless but it defently has wired internet.

So can we please have a Blockland game cart for Gameboy Color? I still have my blue one and it would be very cool to play Blockland on it. I don't know if the original Gameboy would have enough processing power to run Blockland but the Gameboy Color is much faster. The advance is even faster but it can run Gameboy Color carts too so the compatability would still be there.

Edit: Added some things to the controls

ARE YOU CALLING MY IDEA BAD?

this thread has to be archived or some stuff because it is a good thread

sorry no
blockland just has too many buttons and controls needed to play
literally every key on my keyboard is used in blockland along with many shift+/ctrl+ combinations

I love how the issue is the control scheme and not the fact that its a PC exclusive for a reason.

one reason is the control scheme

one reason is the control scheme

Someone managed to get Blockland to run on a PSP and was able to plant bricks and what not by switching modes.

Is this ideal/fun? No, much less on a Gameboy

that was a game made from the ground up

Like how he never explained how you're supposed to look around.

Your absolutely right but thats not what we are talking about.

The argument was "Lack of Control space" and I referred to someone making Blockland run on the PSP, of which I said:

Is this ideal/fun? No, much less on a Gameboy

Heres the control scheme that was invented for it:

Quote
circle(c.) + X - plant "ghost" brick
L - 1/3 shift down
R - 1/3 shift up
> - shift brick right
< - shift brick left
^ - shift brick forward
v  - shift brick back
square(sq.) + L - shift brick down
sq. + R - shift brick up
sq. + > - super shift right
sq. + < - super shift left
sq. + ^ - super shift forward
sq. + v  - super shift back
triange(tr.) - undo
c. + L - rotate left
c. + R - rotate right
c. + tr. - brick menu
control "nub" - basic camera and player movement
^ w/o bricks - move forward
v  " - back up
> " - strafe right
< " - strafe left
c. + ^ - open for user binding
c. + v  - "
c. + > - "
c. + < - "
Start - puase/menu
Select - chat(opens keyboard)
X - plant brick/ select
sq. + X - open for user binding
sq. + Select - change view( 3rd - 1st )
tap sq. - open for user binding
tap c. - "

He actually had it working but the video/picture links died.

Have fun with this.  The cartridges will start production next week unless you have any suggestions on how to make the gameplay great again.

Any other games you need for gameboy color?  I can also do classic gameboy and gameboy advance.

the concept of this is dreadful
not only would the controls be extremely confusing and bunched together, it would probably look like this

and that's if it were even possible to render such a game on the GBC
