Author Topic: I want to build a computer but...  (Read 1892 times)

^ the rx 480 isn't ass at all. in fact it's the best performance/price I've seen so far with a current-gen card
but let's hold off on the CPU side of things until zen comes out

So have we come up with a new build?

GTX 750TI and I3 3.0 GHZ is actually a cheap reasonable combo for less than $180. The cool thing is, is that the GTX 750 only uses about 75w of power. It doesn't require an external power source and uses up PCI-Express lane.

GTX 750 still holds up to this day and the I3 can be a bit bottleneck but its extremely good for its price.

amd is ass imo

debatable but so far amd is making their cpus look like garbage

I know nothing about them so I don't know what parts to get. I want a computer that can play modern games at 30 fps while being recorded, inclusion of prices of the parts and the total price would be great. I could also use recommendations for monitor, keyboard, mouse, and headset (preferably one that picks up as little background noise as possible).
We have a thread and if you get any Nvidia GPU you can use Nvenc to record with no or a very small peformance drop
Combine it with any i5 and you're good

Why is everyone pushing a computer newbie to research into overclocking?  There's literally zero reason that it's necessary to overclock, doing so is more of a hobby for enthusiasts in this day and age, even with the tools available that make it easy and safe.  Stop insisting on overclock-friendly hardware.

then OC it lol
Or just buy a Haswell i5 at 3.6GHz, the 4690/4690K.  You don't need the most up to date series of chips either, especially for a budget build.

...
not everyone needs a forgetin ssd god damnit
...
numbers aren't everything but i may be wrong
Unless you're piss poor there's no reason to not get a small SSD (at least 120GB) for the operating system, they run at less than $50 now and offer incredible performance for the entire operating system.  Windows has never been the same for me ever since I've been running it off of an SSD.
Numbers aren't everything like you said but the latest Intel i5 processor at 2.7 GHz is a waste.  I didn't even think processors were sold at that frequency still.

Intel consistently provides more performance per dollar.  You have to be trying to squeeze every dollar to really think AMD is the best fit.

this is what i'm thinking. the dude wants to play games at 30 fps, lol.

This build implying:
You have a budget
You are fine with 30FPS
You use wired connection
You are not overclocking
You like tiny PC's :)
You dont mind a led in your fan because it was a p cheap one

This build implying:
You want more FPS
You want a future proof and more reliable parts
You plan to upgrade later on
You want to OC your CPU (if you dont want to, get an i5-6500)
You want an SSD (you can remove it)
You also used wired connection
Case fan is optional since the case comes with 2 fans but the 140mm is for the front

You can also replace the 1070 with a 960 or up.

As long as you use OBS and use nvenc with the right setting you can record nearly lossless 60 to even 120FPS gameplay. Too bad its only is on Nvidia cards

I want a big case becauase i plan on upgrading later and would like room incase I need an extra hard drive

The case is fine for upgrading later
and it has like 6 drive cages (3 3.5" cages and 3 2.5" cages)
The cage supports a full sized graphics card 13.75". You can get a longer video card if you'd like. The one I picked is p tiny because I had ITX in mind

The mobo only has 1 PCI 16 and 2 PCI 1 slots so unless you want more than 1 gpu this'll work fine. The only downside I really see is that the motherboard only has 2 rams slots. But that is if you want more than 16Gb of rams wich I think is p pointless

he wants a big case and you give him a microatx build lol

these are awesome for budget builds assqueef
