then how come you just posted this instead of backing it up
Didn't feel like it, thought it was common sense at this point but I guess not. If you want some examples look at the U.K. and their handgun laws and Ireland.

given those examples, I think you're confused about what exactly moltenkitten said...

It's almost like a completely different country over there.

I'm gonna pop in here and give my 0.2¢ on gun laws in the US, because it seems everyone and their mom is trying to approach the situation, on both sides, in a very broad and black/white manner. The issue isn't about gun control. It's never been about that, it's been about society, culture, and education. Why do you think there is so much variance to countries with different kinds of gun laws as to their effectiveness at lowering crime? There are some counties that have gun laws very similar to more "gun-liberal" states here in the US. In Switzerland, gun ownership rate is about 25%, a lot because men have to go through required military training, which includes firearms training. At the end of their service, they can request to privatize their firearm and make it legal to own. Licensing a firearm requires a background check that ensures that their applicant doesn't have any previous crime, or isn't psychologically impaired/has past problems with psychological issues. Their homicide rate is 0.49 to 100,000 people. Their education is pretty top notch too, with a second largest percentage of the population, 2.5% (compared to the rest of the world), having PhD's. Their tertiary schools have the second highest percentage of abroad students coming in to learn, right below Australia. The issue isn't restricting firearms, it's making sure stupid people don't have firearms. Man, it seems like a loving given but the path to fixing that is so loving monumental.

If guns are so bad how come I'm still alive in a state which pretty much says forget it to gun control?
to be fair, this IS actually one of the dumbest arguments I've seen

pretty much this

making your people into good people will generally do well in reducing armed crime, even in "gun-free" countries too

but i honestly think it's because schweiz is A: small and B: born from a confederation

it's all about the govt being in touch with the people

federations attempt to get around this by having state governments who are then governed by a federal government. but unrest, crime, and education in the US and russia prove that this doesn't quite work well

note: i'm not advocating for communism and i'm not saying that size is the ONLY reason russia and the US are struggling in one way or another

Probably, I haven't had any sleep

Gun control is a hard bill to push in America regardless of whether you lean left or right. One misstep is political Self Delete and a good way to either earn the undying hatred from the liberals or the undying hatred from the NRA (pfffffft)

this too

Along with that, making guns harder to get for law abiding citizens won't stop criminals. Our police force simply doesn't have the manpower or resources available to crack down on the sales of illegal arms more than they already are.

Making guns harder to get period might actually prevent firearms from getting into the hands of potential Hardcore Gamers, but good loving luck convincing anyone to pass that legislation

i believe the solution is to shoot first

Yeah America really missed the mark on gun control once people decided children being murdered in their schools wasn't a good enough reason to change their ways.
As far as I can see at least 51% of America thinks more highly of being able to go to a shooting range and feeling badass firing off rounds than giving up anything to save thousands of lives ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Or maybe if the education system here didn't suck ass and we took care of the mentally ill, we wouldn't have to loving worry about it, rather than destroying an entire business with law abiding citizens.
