This movie is loveist and tribal all in one tight little clusterforget of a package.

not a fan of Sacha's stuff really but I do like pretty much all of Edgar Wright's movies.
good lord.

also bravo to the New York Times for making the bad ratings about discrimination against women and ignoring the fact that the movie is genuinely unfunny.

here's the article for anyone interested

How to tell if an article is written by a condescending twat: "you know"

Basing your opinions on one or a few "critics/journalists" is like picking some regular people out of user ratings and focusing all the attention on them. They have opinions just like everyone else but they're glorified because somehow they have more important and refined tastes.

fuuuuuucking christ why dear god no make it stop oh my good lord

Please, make the cringe stop...

And of course the NYT labels the critics' reviews as being "loveist".

If you want a good comedy movie watch anything by Edgar Wright or Sacha Baron Cohen. Most American comedy films are stuff nowadays because they try too hard to be funny and are more focused into writing characters into the jokes rather than the jokes into the characters.
I wouldn't necessarily call Sacha Baron Cohen's films 'witty', as rambo was asking for.
His stuff is very very crass and often is shock comedy. His interview-character films (Ali G In Da House, Borat and Bruno) are almost just like heavily scripted Jackass stunts. And films like Grimsby are fuelled by drug/love references or usage.

His TV pieces (where he does interviews in character) are wittier, but he's ultimately just getting laughs out of confusing or angering or embarrasing someone.

I love his stuff, but I just wouldn't describe him as witty or in anyway high-brow.

They replaced a cast of men with a cast of women. They're standing up against an anti-women society and that's so brave. Only a bigot would oppose such progress!

:^)

i can't wait for the 10-20% user rating
