How do you not /wrists your computer while trying to download a game that's several gigabytes?

when i see people with 1-10mb/s download speeds, i cry a little inside
doom 2016 took me *3 days* to download, while only taking my friend like 8 hours, they complained about it taking too long and i wanted to loving strangle them

How do you not /wrists your computer while trying to download a game that's several gigabytes?

i'm not him but i have similar speeds
i let steam/whatever download platform run for several hours (4-8) at a time (sleeping/somewhere else)
it usually gets 2-3 gb per day
it took me a few weeks to fully download world of warcraft
