Author Topic: Nintendo's next console revealed  (Read 3612 times)

do we know if it's just going to be a plug-and-play console kind of thing or if it'll actually play NES cartridges

i imagine the former would be more practical for them but the latter would be way cooler. i'm sure it probably has new hardware anyway so that at the very least it could output HDMI, and it has different controller ports, so it's definitely not just a rerelease
i imagine we'll have to wait until at most october for more information

I think the NES cartridges are as big as the console itself, so it's likely plug and play. I hope they end up selling other games for it as well

It's a really cute novelty even if I already do own a lot of the titles on it. That said there's more info about it here along with the list of games on it:

Nice selection of games I would say. Nice to see they were able to get a good number of third party games and didn't just fill with garbage black label games nintendo released at launch.
its crazy to think that we've come so far in technology that an entire console that required a bunch of wires in '84 can be scaled down and still play perfectly
Except the NES didn't require a bunch of wires, literally the only wires inside of the system are for the power button and controller ports.

what happens if I plug wii nunchuck into this? :nes:

imagine if you could pop up the tray and see a screen there so it's handheld

color tv-game 6
wasn't there also a color tv-game 9 or 19 or 12 or 18 or something

yar but only 5 versions, this is like the 6th one

It's like the Atari flashback and the Sega thingy, except it will probably better since it won't be made by AtGames.

I'll probably get one, 30 games for $60 is much better than paying a scalper $40+ for each.

I was just about to make a thread about this, either way I do have a one concern about this "new" console.

How many people are going to buy this? I know there are a lot of retro gamers out there but it really makes me wonder if people are going to be curious enough to try an old console that they may not have played with before. It really makes me wonder on what reasoning Nintendo justified re-mastering something old rather than trying something new and (preferably) untried.

this is one of the only appropriate times to use the nes emoticon

What is the nes icon even for anyways?

No. Remove it
