Author Topic: Anyone feel like hosting some modded Minecraft?  (Read 2538 times)

Does anyone feel like throwing up a modded Minecraft server for us forumers to play? I think we should play something like Tekkit Legends or MinimalMods (shameless modpack promotion) or something.
I don't have the resources at the moment to host a 24/7 server, but if one of you can host one of these servers 24/7 that'd be great. I just really feel in the mood to play some modded minecraft.

Advent Of Ascension No other Mods
except Nei

I have my own magic-based modpack that I shared with some of my friends, we almost made a server for it but nobody was able to host.

Basically what I'm saying is I'm in the same boat as you I suppose.

That sucks.
BTW, if anyone actually wants to host minimalmods I'll pass over the server files.

i probably would if people played it
though i don't know anything about minecraft, i played it twice maybe

Just make sure witchery is not installed on the server unless you want everyone to have to remove curses they have on them everytime they log on.

I suggest Bevos Tech Pack on ATLauncher. Mostly because it has Flaxbeards Steam Power.

I love Modded Minecraft. So yea.

I looked into this, and the dynamics of the modding system is really unfortunate.
The client has to somehow know every mod the server is using, and then proceed to manually download them all.  Wtf?

I was mildly surprised that the name Tezuni was still available after all this time.  *Shock*
Oh yeah, and no server list in this game?

Anyways I've got a dedicated vanilla server up at:  ttt.tezuni.com:25565

normally people host a pack of mods, and it's understood that the person joining knows what pack is being used
I remember spigot tried to do something with downloading the specific mods, but I don't think that really took off, and people just went the more basic route

nope, most servers are small groups, and there are public ones that are advertised in other places
it could work, but in a game like this it doesn't really fit, since in the default setup anybody could just log in and screw stuff up

would probably need an option to be unlisted, which is default to true, if a server list was implemented (beyond the current per-user server list)

I tried to set up a server with some friends, after playing for awhile we got pretty bored - we intended to spend a lot of time on Twilight Forest but it was actually very boring and I do not recommend that modpack.
This was what we were using - it was not much of a beefy content deal:
Quote from: Old modpack
Treecapitator
Biomes O Plenty
Buildcraft
Carpenter's Blocks
Chisel
Enchanting Plus (OP enchantment table)
Natura
Somnia (Bad addition)
Tinkers' Construct + Thaumcraft compatibility
Thaumcraft
Twilight Forest (Boring)
VeinMiner
Storage Drawers + BiomesOPlenty & Natura comp ability
BiblioCraft + BiomesOPlenty & Natura comp ability
And it was pretty well in performance side, though the guys got bored since there wasn't really any particularly new or endgame content so I set up a new one:
Quote from: New modpack
Treecapitator
Deconstruction (Reverse crafting table)
Aether
ATG (Better terrain generation)
Buildcraft
Carpenter's Blocks
Chisel
Chocolate Quest (custom dungeons)
CompactStorage
Mo'Creatures
Enchanting Plus
Galacticraft
Industrialcraft
Morematerials
Natura
NoMobSpawningOnTrees
Ore Dictionary
Ruins (random uninhabited structures spawning)
StorageDrawers + Natura compatibility
Tinkers' Construct + Thaumcraft compatibility
Thaumcraft
The 3 Thermal mods (Dynamics/Expansion/Foundation)
Veinminer
And those also had NEI, Waila and Xaeros Minimap on clientside.

The issue is that the second one started lagging quite a lot since there have been beefy modpacks included (Aether, Galacticraft, Industrialcraft). The server was hosted on a i5-2300 that was also playing the game, I would really need another host (or another PC to host from), but if anyone wants the pack to host I can zip the files for download.

I love to play the following mods:
Terrafirmacraft
IC2 Classic
BC
Forestry
RC
Minechem
TE

I've got a beefy computer to host with. My issue is the internet connection. I have 5mbps upload and 30mbps download.

TFC is fun fun fun, but once you find the first ore vein it slowly becomes boring. There's lots of stuff to do but it's much more tedious work than anything without much variety in what you can do.

Honestly if someone could host a server with just """techy""" stuff like computer mods and IC2 and some other resource mods also someone made a tis-3d mod which i would like to see in a modpack since i cant use it on mac since reasons
