are you loving kidding me

if we're going entirely off of anecdotal evidence, me and some friends went to go see it and we couldn't watch it because the theater was too full. movie couldn't be doing that bad.

Thats not enough.
They need far more to be considered a successful movie.

The real world, the business world, isnt trying to JUST profit.
They have investors to please. They have percentage goals to make.

If it doesn't make enough, producers and directors suffer for it and may not get future work.

If a film needed to gross 10 times it's prod. budget then nearly every big budget movie would be a flop and studios wouldn't make them anymore. It's an unrealistic goal and investors aren't looking for that.
