This included folders. They can be found with searches, but when I tried searching for a folder it said "The file this shortcut  links to no longer exists."

First day after installing windows, this issue occured, so I moved all the desktop icons back on from the backup folder. In retrospect, I should have copied and pasted. I assumed I would be able to trust windows 10, but I was wrong.

Who in their right might would design an operating system that does this.

Privacy issues come to mind immediately, I've also had some friends on Steam who's computer upgraded to Windows 10 and they no longer had graphics drivers that could even run Blockland since Win. 10 only gave them basic drivers.

Maybe
Download the drivers

And windows 10 states they will acces your personal data when they feel its required amd justified to do so.
Meaning if you dont break the loving law they will not break your privacy
Also implying windows 8 or 7 doesnt do the same thing

chill there
win10 actually forced my graphics drivers to update so i can now run shaders on intel so i cant really hate it 100%

but honestly theres a lot of stupid background stuff windows does to help "optimize your computers performance" but if you're on a par or lower computer, it insteads kills the ability to do anything every few minutes during these times of "optimization", like when it defrags your hard drive in the bg for you while you're trying to work on code or play a game, or index your folders every time you search for something (it seemingly redoes the indexing every time or something cause it always lags the same every time i ran a search with it on)

its also incredibly slow to look up control panel/settings stuff (as well as files) for some unknown reason; windows 7 never had issues like lag when typing in phrases into a search box or it taking 30 seconds to load the ctrl-alt-delete window and then lagging the second it comes up. windows explorer (the file system) also fails a lot more compared to win 7 making me wonder what was going through these developers minds when they were making win10 - people want a better win7 but all you're providing is a windows vista without usability killing bugs (but serious bugs nonetheless) all over again
