Author Topic: do you cuss around your parents?  (Read 3409 times)

Sometimes I casually swear around my mum, (e.g. ''stuff ay") and she never really says anything so I think I'm in the green lol

It just doesn't feel right to me y'know? I even feel a bit uncomfortable when my friends drop an f-bomb during parties, but I'm fairly certain my parents don't actually give a hootertooter.

i don't, my friend does tho

I do but in an ironic or sarcastic way

I never did as a child, but I do now occasionaly, and my parents are comfortable to swear in front of me too. But sometimes I'll still get told off if I'm being a bit excessive.

If you swear while in pain (think icy cold/burning hot) then it will increase your pain tolerance and let you cope better or put up with it longer.
The theory is that saying something you find naughty releases small amounts of adrenaline (from the thrill of being heard swearing) which helps you tolerate the pain.

But if you're emotionally desensitised to swearing, from using it regularly, then swearing will have less effect on pain. You would have to resort to using your own personal taboo words.

yeah but not dirty words.

i only get 2 verbal "cunt"s a day, i cant waste em on them.

if i swore in front of my dad he wouldnt care. if i swore in front of my mom, however, shed be pretty upset with me. i once accidentally said "stuff" after banging my head off the car while getting in, and my dad just laughed it off. if it had been my mom i would get in trouble.

I don't do it around them, but when they're not around I do.

my dad allows it one time I was shouting and swearing while he was down stairs and he didn't give a stuff. My mum will go mad if I say a swear word but obviously if I swore at them I'll get into deep stuff and I'm not gonna do that so yeah

No but it's not like I get into much trouble if I do considering I'm like 18 now lol.

I swear I get caught all the time now and my mother pretends not to hear it.

only when im speaking to small children or when i stub my toe
shes not particularly a fan of me swearing at any other point

I don't even swear at all even if I'm alone cus I'm a goody two-shoes

OT: yea when I'm in my room
dad's sworn and thrown stuff at me (hat, belt, etc)

i have a friend who says "frikin" all the time because he got into the habbit of subbing that word at work.
but its annoying and sounds handicapped. he says it when its just us guys dude'ing it out.
