Author Topic: do you cuss around your parents?  (Read 3210 times)

as long as it's not angry swearing they're good with it, although i definitely don't swear as much as i do online irl

Absolutely not. Pretty sure my parents would rather me resort to cutting than swearing. Until I was maybe about 12, I would get chewed out for saying "dumb" or "stupid" (only by my mom, who was raised pretty hard baptist). My dad would never have any allowance for swearing either, but I'm pretty sure he'd freak out less than my mom would.

No. I find myself incapable of swearing infront of any sort of authority no matter how mad I am.

I just can't. I resort to using synnonyms or stop talking.

In the word (just the one) of a Game Grumps special guest when they were asked for the tribal version of a rhyme thing:
N o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o. I swear in my head occasionally and rarely under my breath, but I keep telling myself not to. I don't swear, generally. It's just how I was raised.

Around my dad when i'm playing vidya gamez.

generally no, unless I'm working on my car or something

my mom's okay with it, my dad isn't. they're just words, i don't get it

yes, they swear casually more around me than i do around them

I swear in front of everyone other than adults and or my parent(s), my mom is sort of okay with softer ones just tells me to watch my mouth, my christian-bot-father v2.0 will beat you for loving saying frick.

meh. i only say damn, hell, and ass around them pretty much.

I don't swear around anyone at all in real life.

depends on the context

i don't cuss /at/ them but if we're mutually pissed about the same thing then i can occasionally get away with a hell or damn

I generally don't do it around them, except when the time comes  and even then I usually use the secondary cuss words.
Outside of that though, I do it more often.

only if i'm using my tribal texan voice

When I was in first grade, a lunch lady yelled at me for just saying "Shut up" to a girl.
"Shut up" was basically a swear word until I think 4th or 6th grade.
